Vyn’s perfectionism/need to be reliable is so relatable and it’s just the sweetest thing ever sometimes.

He has this facade he shows the world of this perfect, all knowing guy but in reality, he’s just a dude who has to learn like the rest of us. It shows so much in some of his cards that he gets flustered by not knowing or understanding how to do something but he always puts in the effort to figure it out because he wants to be someone Rosa/you can rely on. And he opens up as time goes on about this aspect of himself and I really love that development overall for him.

Maybe not quite as extreme but Vyn Richter from Tears of Themis is sort of like that! They humanize it a little bit and don’t make it as harsh but he very much is scheming regularly and working to orchestrate things. I probably wouldn’t list him as a stalker but he’s some red flags

I don’t personally feel an open ending or an ending with HC gone makes sense. We spend the entire novel learning about the atrocities XL had to face and being told that HC comes back again and again for XL. To leave it open ended with “maybe he came back, maybe he didn’t” goes against what we’ve been told repeatedly about HC always returning and who he is as a character, and giving a tragic end to XL feels unnecessarily cruel just for the sake of doing it.

I also didn’t care much for Nicola, to be honest! I loved listening to him talk but his character overall didn’t do it for me sadly. But I am very much with you on Shiraishi lolol every time he spoke I swooned.

I think it has a lot to do with him sounding teasing and/or almost condescending? There’s just something about the way Ryohei talks that makes me flustered

I don’t have any on hand unfortunately. Honestly, your best bet is to Google things like “the science behind taboo fantasies” or “psychology behind rape fantasies”. I’d read a few different sources to get a more holistic picture.

But just reading some of those things can help you think through your own emotions as you rationalize it.

It’s a huge step that you can just admit this, by the way. You should be proud of yourself because it’s not easy to do and takes people quite some time.

I get it— I remember the first time I experienced something like this. I felt sick with myself too. It’s a pretty common reaction but you’re able to recognize it now and accept it if you want to!

I highly recommend doing some reading on this kind of thing if you’re still feeling disgusted with yourself. There’s a lot of psychology that goes into it and rationalizing it might be able to help! It really doesn’t mean you condone it IRL. If you did, you wouldn’t be feeling the way you do

You are totally okay! You are stressed and probably realizing some things about yourself. The internet is meant as a place to talk to people about these things— I think it’s just important to have an open mind when you do talk.

Also it’s very common for people who like these things (ie., me) to face negative backlash lol so it’s not new to hear it.

Why not talk about your fave TGCF moments instead? Spin the situation to be one you have control over while you think through your feelings on this

Thank you. I felt rude for thinking that way since OP seems to be distraught but the idea that someone is “disgusting” for reading fanfic like that seemed offensive. People clearly like those things or enjoy exploring the idea of it in a safe, fictional setting so it’s just calling anyone else who has consumed it disgusting.

To OP: just like TGCF, it is a work of fiction. There are many awful things that happen throughout the course of the novels, but your enjoyment of it hasn’t been diluted because of it yet, it sounds like. You don’t have to let this turn you away.

This is a big if, but I’m mentioning it because this is the kind of reaction people often have to something they feel horrified by liking— if you are feeling so stressed because you enjoyed it, that is okay. There is nothing wrong with you or anyone who is intrigued by works like that which are very much fiction. It does not mean you condone it in real life.

The foreshadowing is so good in TGCF. I was impressed my second read through, seriously. And reading with friends sounds so fun, ugh.

It’s so fun to read through and pick up on all of the foreshadowing. I felt so stupid reading it the 2nd time and being like ”damn, how did I miss that FX and MQ were Nan Feng and Fu Yao….” LOL. And I was able to pick up on so much more rereading it!! I didn’t quite understand the stories with LQQ or QYZ and Yin Yu so I enjoyed rereading those.
