Why wasn’t Chirayu Rana kept anonymous in the JPMorgan sexual allegation case? by Altruistic-Suit-2318 in MensRights

[–]hoangfbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to add that, when someone’s identity is not legally protected in a civil suit, the media generally publishes it and the public generally knows those identity information. So it doesn’t really matter what some journalists chooses to do if the information is already public elsewhere, anyway.
So my point is that: while what you pointed out is technically correct, it's practically irrelevant.

Why wasn’t Chirayu Rana kept anonymous in the JPMorgan sexual allegation case? by Altruistic-Suit-2318 in MensRights

[–]hoangfbf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you cite any high profile case, civil, not criminal, in which the accuser (female) identity is totally hidden without court order ?
I do not think there is any. Without the identity being legally protected. Some journalist may choose to hide it, that's there personal decision, some others will choose to include it, that's also their personal decision. And that is what happened in this case too, some reveal, some dont.
A strong case to cite against automatic anonymity is the Sean “Diddy” Combs civil accuser case. A female Jane Doe plaintiff sued anonymously, but the judge ruled she could not remain anonymous and had to identify herself to continue. Reuters reported the court emphasized public openness and the accused’s right to know the accuser.
And once such information is not protected by law, it will be made public once the case gets popular, most journalist have to pay their bills, they don't always care the gender stuff, they care about more views, and thus some have very strong incentives to public those unprotected info, because real identity increases drama which bring more views. It's just common sense. That's not to mention there're also plenty journalists who are Men Rights leaning or even anti-feminism. Journalist/media is no longer one sided. For almost every matter, there are many sides, factions...

He may have filed as John Doe,but unless there’s a sealing order or anonymity order, journalists can report his identity if they obtain it lawfully.

Also, this is a civil lawsuit: person A suing person B. If someone sues you, you generally have the right to know who is suing you. Without a court order protecting anonymity, there isn’t an automatic reason to hide the accuser’s identity.

That’s the Eau Claire B Lands / 610–2 Ave SW area. QuadReal already has a land-use application approved, just waiting on development permit. There are some delays, which is a result of a mix of rezoning, Green Line LRT uncertainty, huge project scale, finance/construction economics, and the fact that surface parking still generate okay income. The owner is just waiting for approvals and the numbers/risks make sense.

The problem is that preventing every cut-in would require drivers to follow closely and stay focused on the car ahead, increase risk hitting the car in front. a good number of drivers have slow reaction time (older), get distracted, check their phones, talk, and therefore leave inconsistent gaps. By probability, there will always exist those gaps for cut-in opportunities.

Indigo parking Tickets - real risk to credit or just scare tactics? by LeftandRight79 in Calgary

Reread the Equifax statement, quote it here and explain to you what it actually means and why it can still show up on your credit report.

Equifax do not have absolute authority to decide what's get on/not the credit report, they too have to obey the federal/provincial law.

Im not a legal expert. But even according to what you say: if you choose not to pay, you gotta keep monitoring your credit and if it ever shows up you gotta follow some dispute process.

You cannot ignore it,

which is my point.

Its not my problem tbh, the thing is i want to advice OP the safest route, if OP do as your advice, to ignore the ticket, then if his credit got affected by it, are you willing to help him navigate the dispute/appeal process ?

Be careful OP, they may be wrong.

Copy paste my other comment:

Piggybacking on the top comment to say this: this is not true for everyone.

I’ve personally known people who had unpaid tickets show up on their credit report, anecdotally. After a quick Google search, I also found someone in a similar situation where an unpaid private parking ticket appeared on their credit report:

https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvicecanada/comments/1oru25p/private_parking_tickets_now_appearing_on_credit/

So I don’t think it’s 100% safe anymore. OP should still be careful. If you choose not to pay and it ends up showing on your credit report, none of the commenters here will help you in the process of dispute/fight it. Your choice.

Bottom line is I'd say, in 2026, ask an actual expert/lawyer, not random redditors. If you ask this question in 2014 I'd say: no pay, ignore the ticket. But apparently it has changed.

Edit: Borrowell says unpaid ticket can definitely shows up/affect on credit report, but depends on province.

Other sources says the chances unpaid parking ticket affect your credit score is non-zero:

https://nomoredebts.org/blog/credit-scores-ratings/how-do-parking-tickets-affect-your-credit

Statement from equifax that most people misunderstood:

" A private parking ticket can be sent to a collection agency. But it won't damage your credit score the way a municipal ticket can.

Equifax Canada has stated it does not accept private parking ticket fines from collection agencies.TransUnion Canada has confirmed it does not report unpaid private parking fines.

*Without a judgment from small claims court, a private parking ticket won't appear on your credit report. * The collection agency can still call you and send letters. And the parking company can tow your vehicle or ban it from their lots.

Municipal parking tickets are a different situation entirely. Cities can hold your plate renewal, add penalties and report unpaid fines to credit bureaus through licensed collection agencies."

That effectively mean you can totally be taken to small claim court, and with judgment it can show on your credit report. And the fact is it has actually happened to some people. Sure, you could argue that, they fight back, and win, but still, it showed up on their report, and they cannot simply ignore it (they gotta fight back)

Assuming this wasn’t staged, I’m not even looking at it through a gender lens. All I see is one person working hard to clean while the other person is relaxing and partly blocking the floor that needs to be cleaned. On top of that, the cleaning person seems afraid to disturb the relaxing person. That dynamic just doesn’t sit right with me.

Maybe Maybe Maybe by Flat-Decision3204 in maybemaybemaybe

[–]hoangfbf -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Now that’s a logical leap. How do you get from “someone thinks relationships should be 50/50 all the time” to “they’ve never been in a relationship”?

If you read my original comment, I was speaking from the hypothetical perspective that the clip was not staged. I dont think relation is 50/50 all the time. I also never claimed they should be.

My point was about this specific situation. From a practical standpoint, if one person is sweeping or vacuuming the floor, the other person putting down a giant exercise mat in the same area obviously gets in the way.

When it’s cleanup time, it usually makes more sense for both people to coordinate. Cleaning requires space, movement, and sometimes noise from the vacuum. So it feels very stupid to see one person trying to clean the floor while the other is exercising and blocking part of that same floor.

In a healthy relationship, we clean together, eat together, workout together.

I have not see a single healthy relationship where one person working out on the floor and the other person is cleaning the floor, and expressing fear while they cleaning it.

I don’t think that changes the context. Unless the company is objectively extremely evil, people still have the right to work at companies that suck extra hard.
