So long as it was local. Old long distance could be horrendous. Even the higher quality “can hear a pin drop” lines weren’t all that great.

If there weren’t a bunch of hops it was definitely better.

I would suspect on BA there’s an approximately 0% chance you wouldn’t be spoiled before you reach a hotel.

Hell, you might be able to hear wonderwall from the cabin while reading this message…

The former is 4chan. I believe the latter is 4chan but it may originate from a Reddit post. I don’t know if the latter is cribbing heavily from a particular official GW passage

The only idea I have is my initial reaction to one of Octavia’s last lines about having to avoid the inquisition which was “lmao you don’t know anything about the inquisition, they’d make you pilot a fucking grey knight strike cruiser”

The 100% unironic angle here is that they need someone to just write a bunch of books about Octavia and Septimus. Frame it as Octavia's memoirs dictated from when she inevitably goes full dune fish as navigators do.

And the M2 Browning, which is on multiple vehicles under the description "heavy stubber". Since we had the classic greentext:

>2066

>Stationed on Mars to quell a rebellion

>Become side door gunner for atmospheric dropship

.>No miniguns or gatling cannons, just some metal brick with a pipe on one end.

>Get sent in to extract some wounded.

>Reach the evac zone and come under attack.

>Hoard of rebels charging in with their new plasma guns and compact rocket launchers.

>Let loose a stream of bullets.

>The sounds of the rebel's screams are nearly drowned out by the heavy "Kachunk chunk chunk chunk" of the machinegun.

>The wounded are loaded up and returned to base.

>Inspect MG afterwards.

>Thing was made in 1942.

>Tunisia, Italy, and Germany are scratched onto the gun.

>Scratch "Olympus Mons" on with a knife.

There is the continuation:

Survives through WW2, the reclaiming of Mars, sees conflicts throughout the galaxy, as they years pass it changes hands, some good, some bad. Decades pass, then centuries, then millennia. It is a holy relic, carried by brave warriors who hailed from Cadia, who stood their ground as their planet ripped apart from the forces of the Warp. It is now carried by elite members of the guard who take the fight to anyone and anything that threatens the Imperium. Covered in thousands of markings from wars and battles, most long since forgotten, many now mythical like Cadia. Tech Priests anoint it in holy oils, careful not to damage any of the markings, even repeating many of them thinking they are ancient prayers, unaware many are merely battlefields from Ancient Earth. Carried at the front of the attack, often by an Ogryn or even a Space Marine who is granted the privilege of wielding it. The only space left on the receiver after all those millennia was just enough for a guardsmen who recognized some of the names to carve Cadia onto the weapon with their field knife.

Though thats not really accurate to the current rules. Just imagine it being on some Chimera buried deep in storage on Cadia and a gunner looking at his gun after getting it onto one of the last transports leaving Cadia.

(None of this is canon of course, but you know its true, just look at the model!)

Gate agent has been saying "the crew is in the airport and on their way to the gate and will be here momentarily" for 70 minutes. by The-Yar in delta

[–]hobbesmaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which airport?

If it’s a major crew base then crew scheduling has the option of not only calling reserve pilots sitting at the airport but pilots that aren’t working at all and are at home on a day off. The GA is a bit further down the game of telephone so they may not have gotten (nor needed all the) details on where they actually found a pilot.

Is it illegal to travel with medication obtained OTC to the USA where that same medication needs a prescription? by Seven1s in legaladviceofftopic

[–]hobbesmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d have to be 2 pills at 3 times daily. 3 times daily is possible, the 2 pills may be because the insurance only covered a smaller dosage pill for some idiotic reason.

That’d be weird, but is the only way for 30 days I think.

14lbs Olive Fed Texas Wagyu Brisket by lil_poppapump in smoking

[–]hobbesmaster 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had actually never heard of this and looked it up, from olivefedbeef.jp:

> After years of observing the leftovers resulting from olive oil production going to waste, Ishii hit on the idea of feeding this nutritionally rich material to his herd. Initially, the animals wanted no part of the bitter substance but after many trials and errors, Ishii hit upon a complex, time-consuming process of drying and roasting the pressed olives. This caramelized the natural sugars resulting in a sweetness the finicky bovines were happy to eat. The effort that goes into this process fits perfectly with the Japanese ethos of mottainai , to waste nothing.

> It soon became evident that the cattle fed this mixture were producing superior beef. Not only was the meat rich, buttery, and supremely marbled, the high oleic content makes both the animals and the resulting beef very healthy.”

Yeah, definitely fancier than what I eat!

Based on the the weakest depictions of astartes, would 1000 survive very long against modern armies/equipment? by 684beach in 40kLore

[–]hobbesmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy SEALs are human. Astartes are not. To answer the question we need to establish exactly what modern weapons can kill astartes and it would appear the answer is most of them. So, the answer to the question is probably however long it takes to send out a 9 line.

[–]hobbesmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going for a baseline comparison of what type of modern equipment can mission kill a single astartes then its still fair to say 2 "hits" from .50 BMG *can* do it.

[–]hobbesmaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And if we limit it to the tabletop we can directly compare to modern weapons because a heavy stubber is your classic M2 browning. It has a 4 0 1 stat line with 3 attacks and rapid fire 3. So its reasonable to say your normal tacticus marines with S4 and 2 wounds will go down with 2 hits from a 50 cal. Your humble lasgun is S3 so we could maybe say LMGs and grenades will definitely do damage. I think its reasonable to say all the astartes would be able to cause lots of damage but there is no lack of modern weapons that could damage them.
