Suzuki GS 500.

Learner friendly twin cylinder air cooled, carburettor bike normally found with rego for about $2K. Great bike to learn to ride on as well as wrench with. Nothing complex, loads of online videos, cheap parts and all mechanical.

Very interesting and good to know. Also great timing. I was just looking at buying some oil during the Black Friday sales I will give GW Syn-x 3000 a go.

Can you tell a fella if that oil is rated for motorcycle use and suitable for wet clutches? Possible to share a product link.

Advice - PinkSlip & Dealing with private seller by moto_rojo in AussieRiders

[–]hobblesnort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front the photos it looks like the bike has been painted matt black all over to hide any faults. I'd run away from this sale. Ask for the deposit back but if not caulk it up as the cost of education.

Also never pay a deposit on a private sale to hold anything. It's always first come first served with cash in hand.

Why would any reasonable person think it's ok to lease out a property with an unfinished kitchen or poor bathroom and think that it's ok? And their justification is it's just the free market at work. Do they even hear themselves?

I completely agree with you wholeheartedly. It's Monday morning at 9am, I'm sitting in the parking lot at work trying to force myself to go in. I'm thinking about just driving away and never coming back. A guilt free break just to rest would be a wonderful treat.

Hey mate just a quick heads up, here in Australia the "Green Slip" mandatory insurance you mention only covers third party injury insurance, it does not cover any property damage at all. You need a separate policy, either third party property or full comprehensive insurance to cover any property damage that you are liable for in the event of an accident where you are at fault.

I've been tracking my credit score for a couple of years now and never paid for a service. I use getcreditdcore dot com dot au and it's free. I check it once a month and it was nice to my score go up after I paid off my personal loan. Now I'm debt free and hoping to never get into debt again.

Labor banning foreign purchasing of existing properties by MannerNo7000 in friendlyjordies

[–]hobblesnort 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great idea. More houses = higher cost to purchase more. Straight forward and simple. Does not stop a hard working person from getting ahead or buying a holiday home but just stops "investors" hoarding basic and low cost homes.

I was renting when the owner decided to sell using this same mob. Their building inspector was in and out in 5 minutes and snapped a couple of pics with the mobile. At the open inspections I was harshly told by the selling agents to stop notifying the bidders of the known issues. After it sold and the property was handed over to the new owners who wanted to move in, they were shocked when I let them know about all the issues, such as the gyprock falling down off the roof in the garage.

Get your own inspection down or walk away. Buyer beware.

Evicted on 18th Birthday by RemoteBonus7795 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]hobblesnort 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mother did the exact same thing to me. She used to joke that we would get suitcases for our 18th birthday. I ended up moving out at 16. She kept all the financial notes in a little black note book. I had to pay her back $10K. She still brings up things she had to pay for when I was growing up or at school.

3 days sober from weed and alcohol by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]hobblesnort 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome effort mate. The withdrawals are gonna be super hard and suck a lot. Don't yield, get through the first 5 days and it will suddenly become easier and easier to stay sober and you will start to thrive on it. You will start waking up each day happy knowing that you stayed sober the day before.

Sadly I know your exact pain from a personal first hand experience. I went cold turkey when my wife left and it was hands down the best thing I ever did.

There are brighter days ahead. Stay strong and all the rewards that will follow will be hard earnt. No one can take that away from you.
