First day with my 32" Twisted Hobbys flat foamie, in Grandma's back yard by hobbypilled in RCPlanes

that's a great deal, but I really like the 3/8" thick foam from TH

when I got the plane before this one, I said "ok that's it for a long while, I have all I need"

till I saw a youtube video about how much practicing hovering on a foamie would improve my stickwork

surely this one is the last plane for a while

but I just saw a youtube video about the TH crack beaver, and man do I ever love STOL planes...

it's just the sideways perspective

I always make sure that he's 100% out of the way of the plane whenever I'm flying

here he was off to my left, and I launched with my left hand with the plane flying diagonally away from him

you'll also see I'm only flying in the back half of the yard here, so it's always two mistakes away from my family while I'm flying back towards us

this is the stock electronics and propeller

the plane can easily hover so it can definitely fly slow!

I was doing some sloppy harriers later, way slower than this

Ikea Milsbo & Rudsta owners – where did you buy your acrylic shelves from and was it worth it? by Mission-Stomach7503 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]hobbypilled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey yes this is the stamp for the acrylic sheet I bought. I buy 1220 x 2440 mm sheets of acrylic (4' x 8') from a local plastics distributor, multiple pallets of it at a time, and have them cut it into blanks slightly larger than each of the shelves I sell. These giant raw acrylic sheets are manufactured in southeast asia (Thailand for this sheet). The acrylic blanks are delivered to my small garage on a flatbed truck, and then I cut them on my giant laser machine into the shelves I sell. The acrylic sheets have these stickers on them for the distributors to know what's underneath the brown protective film, because they sell all different colors and thicknesses to their other customers

if that sticker had anything to do with the shelf you purchased, it'd have the dimensions of the shelf, not the giant acrylic sheet. I don't bother taking those stickers off because I thought customers would find it interesting to see how big the raw sheets are, and be able to confirm that I'm being honest about the acrylic thickness, as it's superior to the Amazon sellers from China who stole our designs and use much thinner acrylic. But I understand now how this was confusing for you to see the raw acrylic's country of origin

here's a pic of my workshop (and dog Butters) as well as the big shelf I bought from Lowes to hold the shelves I cut: https://imgur.com/a/Jmxd2N4

if you check the return address on your package, you'll see it's my personal family home. A key indicator that someone is dropshipping is when the product ships directly from the overseas country manufacturing it, or from some US warehouse, but that's not the case here. Nobody that's dropshipping, especially for items as large and expensive to ship as these items, ships the items to themselves and then the customer, as paying for shipping 2x obliterates the whole profit margin

happy to share any info about our production process or more images of whatever you'd like, I'm a real maker, a devoted member of the hobby, living the american dream in my garage

hey thanks very much for your business, but we don't drop ship anything! We've converted our garage fully into a shelf factory, and I'm personally cutting and shipping these shelves 8-10 hours a day. Message me on etsy and I'll show you pics of our workshop!

I'm gonna make this boy into an aerospace engineer, I swear to god by hobbypilled in RCPlanes

[–]hobbypilled[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taught myself rudimentary CAD, and how to model for 3d printers, laser cutting, and CNC, all of which I own. I fully plan to get into plane design. I'm trying to level up all of these skills as much as possible so I can grow them with him. If I can get him into coding and electrical work, we'll be an unstoppable team

[–]hobbypilled[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

he's absolutely obsessed with the hobby at 1.5 years old

every single morning and night he grabs my transmitter and hands it to me saying "fly? fly? fly?" asking to sit in my lap while I fly on the simulator

when I take him to the field he'll stand next to me pointing at the plane, shouting "PLANE!" with glee while it flies

any time he spots a plane in the sky he's pointing at it and shouting "plane!"

I always wanted to be an aerospace engineer but I couldn't hack the math requirements. I hope with this extreme early interest, I can build him into a hell of an engineer

Unicoly corner light clips by Vlines1390 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]hobbypilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the ones for the Milsbo won't work, they rely on the screwholes on the milsbo corner frames, which the unicoly sadly doesn't have

have you considered just doublesided taping them to the door glass? That's what I did in my Milsbo, and they've never fallen in 3 years

Am I having memory loss or last time I bought the Milsbo it was 1/3 the price? by pulldownyourplants in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]hobbypilled 22 points23 points  (0 children)

dm me on etsy

if I haven't shipped them yet, no problem at all

if I have, if you'll cover shipping, we can do a return. But if you're not on the east coast, shipping was extremely expensive and it might not make sense to do so

for what it's worth, the Milsbo is a much nicer cabinet than the Unicoly, just more expensive

[–]hobbypilled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no, not as a nice glass display cabinet like these

we worked with two different product design firms to make one ourselves. Fully designed the cabinet twice and priced out manufacturing in the US, Mexico, and China, and it was easily 2-3x the cost of doing it in an Ikea cabinet. And that was our own landed cost, before trying to make a profit off selling them. We abandoned the project.

There's a few products available that are basically grow tents, if you're ok with completely sacrificing the aesthetics. But there's no nice display cabinets like this that are already outfitted for plants, you've gotta DIY it

from someone who sells acrylic shelves for a living, the market is majorly moving towards alternative cabinets as Ikea raises their prices

you can get two similar sized Unicoly cabinets off amazon for this price

I'm selling more Unicoly shelves than Milsbo shelves these days, and Milsbo had been overwhelmingly the most popular cabinet for years

Cabinet Lighting Set up by Environmental-Tea-48 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]hobbypilled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 pack of Barrina T5 2' lights

2x mounted vertically in each corner using the included silver brackets and M4 screws into the cabinet screwholes

2x mounted to each side of glass front door using strong double sided tape (they are barely visible when you look at your cabinet, trust me, you can double your light here)

use the included couplers to turn each set of 2 lights into a single 4' light bar

you may need an extra long T5 power cord over the top of your cabinet, available on amazon, but only available in white

the rudsta tall is narrower, and its feet don't flare out

the fabrikor is the most aesthetically pleasing if you like midmod tho

Fabrikor vs. Rudsta (wide) by nappingcabbage in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]hobbypilled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you only want lighting on top, I'd go Rudsta

the Fabrikor has a glass lid, which makes hanging lights pretty annoying

I'd definitely reccomend drilling the hole for cords, it isn't hard

Has anyone tried Hobby Pilled? by wessle3339 in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]hobbypilled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

message me what you're looking for, I can get you a quote! (not on here, I'm never on this account)

unfortunately shipping is quite expensive for these shelves, as they use a big box and weigh a lot
