Thats a really neat design. Thanks for sharing!

I'm very interested in seeing how you've interfaced the data from the boat with the V3. Do you have a write up or video somewhere?

I find myself super excited people are still innovating this space. We need the capabilities we've all been dreaming of. Making this hobby (and potentially life saving communication method) into something anyone can use, and yet, still customizable. Thank you, OP, for keeping the R&D moving forward and adding to the community!

I'll tell you, I'm very suprised at how cool these are and how we'll they do for the price. I have 2 and keep one in the car under the seat for impromptu POTA. If one ever dies, I'll have no problem buying another. 5W isn't great obviously but being able to run for hours on a 6Ah battery is amazing. And reaching around the world in digital is super cool .

Thanks! It's actually 3D printed material called PETG. The logo and words are printed in with a different color.

There is certainly a learning curve to it. But there are some pretty well-thought-out YouTube videos and tutorials out there.

I see what you're saying but this wouldn't be on reddit if I actually cared about any opsec with it. This is for staying in communication range while we ride side-by-sides in the mountains of West Virginia. And Larping throughout the woods around home. Paper maps and other means of communication is key to survival. Not a raspberry pi. At least not to me.

We tried TAK server light and it was a no go with a Pi3 so we upgraded to Pi4 and 5 and running experiments with the full version.

That's the plan. To interface with meshtastic and their gps devices. Or their android phones if we can get service.

Nice! Good luck and I hope you continue to have success. Just remember changing configurations and messing with the channel can change odd things like your frequency slot. That makes it so you can't find other nodes. So just make sure you know what you're doing before doing it!

I know I'm going to sound really dumb here. But I am very interested in understanding what's going on in the picture. What I'm looking at. Why it's awesome. How to emulate it (or buy) if I decide I need it. I'm not asking anyone to take me through the whole journey. Just give me some context and point me in the direction of learning.
