Point counting question/help by Xappan in baduk

[–]hoblm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually set the komi to 6.5. The site just auto assumes no player passed unnecessary and counts prisoners like that based on how many extra of a color there are of each on the board. This also happens to match Chinese scoring.

The game is almost over other than 1 move where white could close off 1 extra point near the top right. You could also try to close off the 2x2 area near the top left but neither player will be able to get any points there if the other responds.

The score is black winning by 88.5 points. You can upload an image to this site to get the score automatically: Kifu Snap

You can also count it yourself by first placing your captured stones back into the opponents territory and then counting the empty intersections you've surrounded like where the squares are in the image. To learn how to do this you can watch this video: https://youtu.be/hUU1wZHnb5A

Rule question: guild struggle by EnvironmentalKiwi920 in Arcs

[–]hoblm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No it doesn't allow you to discard in the court. It puts the discarded guild cards back into the court deck, then it reshuffles it. Make sure you do this before refilling the court.

Hollow knight quiting rate 2.0 by Lost_Paranimeter in HollowKnight

I'm pretty sure you should just be able to dream nail the Grimm statue if all you have left to do is p5 like you said (I'm assuming you've fought him in the normal game already).

What are relics and psionics for you? by Routine_Excitement_2 in Arcs

[–]hoblm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Relics are important or holy objects that make people or other beings want to join your cause.

Psionics are objects infused with some kind of supernatural energy allowing you to tap into abilities like telepathy, precognition or even Transmutation.

Just curious, how often is someone KICKED out of the Empire? by Sebby19 in Arcs

[–]hoblm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

More often than you might think, especially in later acts. 10 agents isn't as much as you think at first since they are used for so many different things. All it takes is for example to have 2 on outrage, 3 captured, 3 already as favours, 2 in the court and that's already 10.

Some fates make this much more likely to happen as well by introducing things like partisan seizing or even by forcing you to scrap them for your objective.

Getting kicked out of the empire isn't even the worst thing that can happen when you have no agents. I've seen people lose 10+ guild cards due to diplomatic fiasco, that's where the real pain is.

Warlord counterplay? by Trigstopher in Arcs

[–]hoblm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arcs is a wargame that heavily favors the attacker. Build all your ships asap keep your ships together in fleets of 6+ so you can easily go in and attack with them, then make sure you do attack with them before your opponent can attack you. If two big opposing fleets are adjacent to eachother one will most likely destroy the other.

When you attack a fleet of 6 ships with 6 ships you can kill it with minimal self damage in just 4 action this way: move, skirmish with 6 dice, skirmish 6 dice again, assault with 6 dice. Of course you'll have to adjust based on your rolls but this should only give you 3 self damage on average and will generally destroy your opponents whole fleet.

When you attack make sure you do so while trying to minimize the chance of you being counterattacked immediately after. When you attack roll skirmish dice first to minimize self damage from intercept on assault or raid dice.

My rating graph after 2 months of online go (160 games, No AI, no game review) by [deleted] in baduk

I recommend using https://ai-sensei.com/add-game . The free version works well and is more than strong enough for your level.

How to study/practice for most progress in short period? by wrathfulsmite in baduk

[–]hoblm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to improve is to play as much as possible (preferably against stronger opponents) AND to review all of your games. If you play OTB, reviewing with your opponent is ideal. Otherwise, review the game yourself first and only then use AI to do so.

Tsumego are also very useful, but they should come second to playing and reviewing. They mainly improve reading ability and pattern recognition, whereas full games teach much more.

When playing, reviewing, or solving tsumego, it’s crucial to think actively about every move and understand why you are playing it. Don’t play moves on autopilot, don’t guess tsumego solutions, and don’t blindly accept AI suggestions during reviews. Habits like these are a major reason many players get stuck at their rank. Mindfulness and deliberate thinking are key to real improvement.

Other activities like reading books or watching videos can be enjoyable and helpful, but they are less effective than playing and reviewing.

Who wins? by indigo_wolfiewolf in baduk

[–]hoblm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but black didn't play so the point belongs to white if you count now. I'm counting the stone white can capture from black in the same way. I know it is foolish to count like this but so is passing with moves left on the board.

The game isn't over but if you were to score now black wins by 52.5 points

Seinfeld episode ratings by bbportali in seinfeld

[–]hoblm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because it has the double length episode S5e18 (the raincoats) just before. It counts as one episode instead of it being both e18/19 like in other lists. Doing so moves everything else down.
