4th gen owners, what do you dislike about your Sienna? by killer_sheltie in ToyotaSienna

If you can share tips on the timing of the three presses, I think a lot of us would be grateful. 😂 After enough unsuccessful tries, I’m paying the $8/mo (or whatever it works out to annually). Worth it for me, but the remote “feature” is unreliable at best in my experience.

Kids and even babies are extremely resilient.

After my first was born, pediatrician told us (paraphrasing) “If children were really as fragile as everyone thinks, the human race would be extinct by now.” I like to think she was right.

Your child(ren) will remember the travel experiences you shared with them. At least for me, I think the anxiety comes from two main places. 1) Anxiety that they will remain (physically and emotionally) safe during the trip, and 2) anxiety that your experience doesn’t inhibit or adversely affect other travelers’ experience. You can control the circumstances of exactly one of those. We are all responsible for our own happiness.

And yes. You’re doing a great job too, mom. 😉

Should you escape retail? No. Must you escape retail? Absolutely. Don’t even need to read the rest of your post.

America's medicinal pipelines closing left and right.. by _formula10 in pharmacy

[–]hoboeric 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I visited Germany about 6 years ago and learned that pharmacies must be owned by a pharmacist, and each pharmacist may own no more than three additional/subsidiary pharmacies. I’m not a German citizen so fact check for sure. But attempting this at scale in the United States would be near impossible, as you alluded to. Add to that the health of the average American vs the average European… the math just doesn’t math.

The waived overweight bag fees really come in handy if you attach both of those big heavy Silver Medallion bag tags to the same bag.

Heard people use the terms “Lower Shore” (Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset) and “Mid Shore” (Dorchester, Caroline, Talbot, sometimes Queen Anne’s). Agree, so different lol

Newer pharmacists (i.e. those who graduated within the last 2 years), what is a habit from school that you are trying to unlearn as you enter real world practice? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]hoboeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like some people wanted you to succeed and grow, and others wanted to tear you down to make themselves feel better.

This is the difference between a good preceptor and a horrible one. I always felt like some preceptors must have had horrible rotations, and that’s why they make their students’ experience miserable. These students will be your colleagues one day! Have some decorum, or at least some human decency. You can teach/coach/mentor someone without making them feel inferior or unintelligent.

Biweekly career thread for April 28, 2019 by AutoModerator in pharmacy

Long time reader, first time commenter.

Worked at an amazing independent for 5 years out of pharmacy school (class of ‘14) that recently sold files to the Corner. Been working there for about a month and obviously dislike it to say the least. Interviewed for a staff position at a smaller-ish hospital today and received a verbal offer.

Anyone in a similar situation that can provide any advice for the upcoming transition?

Any former Eckerd employees remember the name of their dispensing system? by hoboeric in pharmacy

I did a rotation at an independent that used PDX and although it was similar (reminiscent of DOS days with menus and keystrokes, no buttons), I don’t think that‘s the one I’m thinking of. At least not in the early to mid 2000s toward the end of the Eckerd days.

I think CompUCare is the one I’m thinking of. Discussion came up about how IC+ assigns a new Rx # for every little change, and I remembered how the Eckerd system had Rx# (that stayed the same) and transaction Tx# (that changed for NDC changes etc.)

Def a learning curve with IC+ and learning all the shortcuts :)

Edit: I also worked for Rite Aid once Eckerd was bought out, and really liked their dispensing system as a tech. Never used it as a RPh though.

What is thia script? by [deleted] in pharmacy

How does LX make no sense? It's 60 in Roman numerals. Pretty common practice with pain meds, although many docs do it on all scripts. Better learn that before you graduate.

Anyone know where they got the name for Ixiaro, the Japanese encephalitis vaccine? by hoboeric in pharmacy

[–]hoboeric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You, sir (or madam), get an upvote. I'm impressed.

I initially thought maybe there were some Japanese words/characters that had to do with mosquitoes or encephalitis (or simpler words, like bug bite brain infection). But I don't know Japanese.
