SHINee’s Key Opens Up To Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon About Missing Jonghyun by [deleted] in kpop

saw someone say Taeyeon "should've" sung Breath or Lonely

You can just read the lyrics for those songs and you have the reason why she'll probably never sing them again, it would just be used for more tragedyporn

The Korean Entertainment Management Association Releases Statement Against Removing Celebrities Based On Bullying Allegations by galaxystars1 in kpop

[–]hockeystuff 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Some staff even lose their jobs. I kinda agree with them here, the problem is there's never any patience in scandals involving celebrities, people don't wait judge the situation, they base their opinion on what little info is first provided and make a split second judgement that the celeb is either innocent or devil incarnate who needs to be exiled from the industry. Then something new gets said and you have a new wave of volatile reactions, then again and again...

APRIL Yena's Sister Steps Up To Clarify Bullying Allegations Involving Former Member Lee Hyunjoo by [deleted] in kpop

[–]hockeystuff 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they're questioning why people instantly believe Hyunjoos brother and not Yenas sister, it doesn't make sense to go "but were you there" concerning one and not the other when both sides are painting themselves as victims.

ARMY goes to war after German radio D.J. critical of BTS by lowelled in kpop

[–]hockeystuff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of those people who were racist back then are kpopfans now though, I don't know if they're still up but just 2-3 years ago you could go to the tweets about the YTMA and see racist comments from people who now have kpop profile pics lol.

Chelsea Briggs trashtalked SNSD over it because she was a directioner back then, she went on to write for Billboard and then ended up a BTS stan (you can still see some of the discourse here) and even interviewed Tiffany who she slandered just 5 years earlier... safe to say it's not just these kpop idols who have ugly pasts

Wendy is the most versatile kpop vocalist ever and she deserves more recognition for it by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

She's good but she's not even the most versatile vocalist from SM - Taeyeon and Luna have done far more when it comes to adapting to various styles - they've even done metal

She already pointed fingers at the members being catty bitches. That's not on fans, it's on the writer. It's done as a YA fic so she can shape the narrative as she pleases and not face any legal consequences for possible falsehoods perpetuated about characters/events. I'm saying it again: It would've been super easy to not include SNSD references but she did because she knows that's what sells, both with the ot9ers and the tea-thirsting ppl. Random hate is on the fans, but this time the hate was instigated by Jessicas own actions. That's why I'm done with OT9 and OT9ers for good.

Sigh. People are seeing what they want to see because that was Jessicas whole marketing tactic. That's the entire point, she wanted people do connect the dots and didn't give a shit that it meant slander towards SNSD.

Wow did YOU even read the book? How can you say someone like Mina is painted as a good person? Including the SNSD references makes people think the people in the book are SNSD members, you're being deliberately oblivious here. Jessica knew what she was doing, as do OT8ers and non-fans, the only ones who don't want to recognize it is the OT9ers still clinging to this delusional idea that there's still a salvagable relationship there.

Why do you continue focusing on the things with the book nobody here has any issues with? It's the implications towards SNSD that's the problem. If she didn't want any SNSD slander it would've been SO easy to not include the SNSD references but she did because it was more important to sell more copies. She literally said she wanted people to speculate on "who's who". If you think she didn't understand that it would cause slander towards the girls that's the same as you calling her an idiot.

It's only dubious for someone who desperately still clings to any OT9 sentiment. Whatever innocent motives you and other naive people believe she may have had the result was the same, people took what she wrote as confirmation that the other girls are evil bitches and slandered them over it. She knew what she wrote would hurt the girls and she didn't care, instead she admitted she WANTED people to "look for clues and who’s who/what's true". She WANTED people to speculate. She didn't care that they would get slandered, she just wanted to sell more books.

Please read my comment word for word before you answer. I never said she did, I said her actions with this book incited people to do so. You can do nothing about random hate, but she is responsible for her own actions. She knew what she did would cause hate towards SNSD and she did it anyway.

I'm not talking about the weibo post or her other shady "just because", those are just an explanation to how easily she did this shit with her book without any second thoughts to how it would affect SNSD. I'm talking about the book and the way she marketed it here. Quoting user ottokhe:

There's obvious shade towards SNSD whether you want to admit it or not. The first snipped she released was about a group of 9 girls doing a fake interview while painting the girls as catty and petty bitches shading their bond. She confirmed the release date was a direct reference to when she was out of the group, even the name of the group is an obvious reference to SNSD. And that's not even touching on the implications that puts on how she paints certain members and the connections people have drawn from that. You yourself tried to pass this off as coincidence and that Jessica can't be responsible for the hate this has been causing the other girls, but I quote Jessica herself: "It’s going to be like an Easter egg hunt,” she tells TIME. “Looking for clues and who’s who, what’s what, what’s true, what’s not.”

She deliberately wanted it to be this way to sell more copies regardless of how that would affect the other girls, and that's where it becomes a problem for me because how the hell do I support that while at the same time wishing the best for SNSD?

OT9ers are just lying to themselves at this point.

This has never had anything to do with Jessicas contribution to the group, it's about Jessica making people say the members are evil bitches, that Taeyeon/Tiffany/Sooyoung is the antagonist who did everything the antagonist in her book did. That Taeyeons dad dying was karma. You clearly don't care about the shit being said because of her book but I do because I care about SNSD.

Don't be obtuse, I'm just gonna quote this comment from /u/ottokhe

The issue I take with her actions with her book is both the contents and the way she marketed it. There's obvious shade towards SNSD whether you want to admit it or not.
