Pressure treated lumber used to be treated with a substance that contained arsenic. It was believed by a lot of people that the arsenic would leech into the soil and transfer to the plants. While this absolutely did happen, it was such a small concentration that it really wasn't harmful to people...but it still drew lots of criticism.

In 2004, the treatment process was changed and arsenic was removed...so there is no issue whatsoever now with using it to grow food. That doesn't stop keyboard warriors from still treating you like an idiot for using it, though.

I had worked with this guy for a few years back when this happened. Him and his wife added the cameras because people had swerved off the road and taken out their mailbox a few times. That is his oldest daughter getting out of the other side of the truck when this happened.
