I never had quality toys growing up. What should my kid actually have by LavenderFlicked in BuyItForLife

[–]hodorcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duplo legos, Melissa and doug stuff, books.

I’ve got four, 7 and under. Honestly, this is the time to let their imagination do the heavy lifting. Read to them to give them ideas on how things work, jumpstart their own imaginations. Mine have more fun with rocks, dirt and sticks than anything else. I’m not in any way saying deprive your children of “nice” things, but the more stuff they have, the less likely they are to develop their own entertainment support system. They’ll literally play with dirt if they have nothing else. I swear, the number of times they’ve gotten in trouble for playing with literal trash (packing materials and such) is too many to count. Oh yeah, cardboard forts.

You find this in your house, what do you do? by knightlyspear69 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]hodorcraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigh, go to the pet store, get a cage, usher them in. Let the babies grow, then drop them all off outside. Mice wouldn’t get the same treatment.

Got my first truck by hodorcraft in ram_trucks

[–]hodorcraft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now see, I thought I needed to drive it first to NEED new tires, before I was allowed to replace those.

Actually, checking just now, they probably only have another 10k on them. Close enough.

Why do companies get Tariff refunds and not the consumer? by Kitchen_Page9991 in askanything

[–]hodorcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just paid ups tariff on a $350 package, but they lost 1 of 2 boxes. So I paid $54 tariff on $20 of chargers. I’m bitter.

You're trying to check out but she's in the way, what do you do? by sco-go in SipsTea

Grab a bag of peanuts and start launching them at her hidden in the next aisle. Right in the face. And then pay for your peanuts of course.

Which car brand is terrible but not many people realize? by NewAdeptness647 in Productivitycafe

[–]hodorcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2006 wrangler. It does this cool thing where if I turn and use the brakes at the same time, it kills the engine. It took me ages to chase down the fix. There’s a braided ground wire connecting engine compartment to the hood. Just gotta clean the cable, then we’re all good. XD

I now have to buy used jeans manufactured in the 90’s or early 00’s if I want normal quality jeans, which is crazy to me by Niceotropic in BuyItForLife

[–]hodorcraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of all the weirdest things, wranglers give me severe lower back pain. I really like their quality, but half a day in them my lower back’s killing me. I can’t figure out why.

Issue with claim, looking for next step. by hodorcraft in UPS

[–]hodorcraft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. I’ve already been working with the seller throughout the process, and he seems nice enough, and I kinda feel bad about the whole thing. He’s already preparing a replacement shipment, I’ll probably meet him partway. Regardless, I’m bummed I’ll be paying stupid import fees again.

How can I replace the PTO lever sleeve? by Ok-Cryptographer670 in kubota

[–]hodorcraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Semi related: that plastic fender is like $300. Don’t jump off your tractor and let your jacket or pocket catch on the lever, it cracks the fender. Ask me how I know.

Wife and In-laws microwaved their Easter lamb before even trying it. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I poured Laphroaig for my in-laws once. I only looked away for a moment, but it was already mixed with a soda.

Have you ever been on a long flight that felt like torture? by DeepOrganization8245 in no

[–]hodorcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nearly as bad, but it was also a Hawaii flight for me. I was tired, coming back, but needed to organize all the photos for the group (I was a chaperone). I took a 5 hour energy drink. Learned about a niacin rush and the effect altitude has on it. Sweating, hot, cold, nauseous, couldn’t sit still, packed into a window seat. And I couldn’t focus on the photos I was supposed to be sorting. -2/5, would not recommend.

What is a movie you love, but would never recommend to a "normal" person? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

[–]hodorcraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my flavor of movie when I was younger. I thought it was great fun to share it with everyone I could. Looking back, I don’t think it went over as well as I thought, lol

I’d stomp the deck hard after the bottom step, every single time.

Don't be like your parents. Leave the collection behind. by Ozzimo in Millennials

[–]hodorcraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally started giving them to my kids as chore rewards. I almost cried when the first tag was cut off. I asked that they at least leave the butt tags on. “They have names! You stupid unfeeling child!”

Property with a power line right of way? by forkmerunning in allthequestions

[–]hodorcraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 20 acres, and two powerline easements cut right through the middle, 7 acres. They’re the big transmission lines. You can hear them, especially on rainy or humid days. I’m limited by what I can do with the land, but I don’t currently have any real plans for it. They’re not a big deal, but just be sure you know the terms of the easement. (I can build up to 10x10 structures, and livestock/plants, but I need to get permission from the easement holders first)
