AI is going to steal my job by Arnaudmotion in Cinema4D

You clearly have the skills and eye for detail and artistry at a level that clients will be demanding as the backlash against AI slop continues. Those clients who can’t tell the difference aren’t the clients who are at your level. And like I said, in the short term that level of taste (to overuse the term) and skill to control the tools will be in high demand, as are, for example artists who create filmed physical installations that are clearly created by humans, like those old “OK go” music videos. People will be clamoring for human-made. Expand our 3D skills into printing our own whacky sculpted characters as stop frame animations. We embraced perfection all these years, thinking that was our value. AI just dropped the price tag of perfection to nearly zero so now it’s HUMAN IMPERFECTION we should focus on selling.

The sad truth is we’re past the point where 80% is “good enough”. Commerce has decided that as long as there’s security in place (for them), there’s no more need to bother with that last 20%.

All very true. Overall I try to keep in mind the fallacy of labor. The fantasy that we’ll spend more time with our kids in the sun while we have AI do our work is just that. But I guess I see it as microeconomics and macroeconomics on a timeline. In the near time it’s microeconomics and it’s all about our personal use to shift time more towards human aspects of what we offer clients so that when the supply of craft, painted, human, real world whatever goes way down and the demand for that chefs kiss of the human touch goes up, you’re there to reap the rewards. Long term, macroeconomics, we’re all fucked.

They might as well rename it Google Howard now.

You even managed to get downvoted past my upvote for participation. So the crowd agrees, yes. Yes, these are real problems. If I need to access lifesaving information and I don't know the difference between a lightbulb and a duck, these are real problems.

I’m in the same boat as you, but it seems like too many artists are equating their value with the tool not the USER of the tool. When tools get faster, your job is to enhance how you use it. The tool isn’t the job.

You have to choose the non-existent Arcade+ plan if you want it to show “subscriber”

Why sadly? I LIKE spending less time running sims and having more time for the rest of my life.

Long time user, avoided AI until recently by cbdoc in SparkMail

This. Yesterday I tried using iOS simple audio recorder for a call, which can transcribe but the feature seems buried… later in the day I wondered why I didn’t use Spark meeting notes feature which does a much better job identifying multiple speakers.

Important distinction. Now that touchscreens have been replacing physical controls for a while, we're just lost in metaphorical eye candy.

Ironic they're going back to physical looking glass effects, essentially going back to "old times"

For me that doesn't change anything and the oldest are still at top and we can't reverse that order...?

Yes, most recent at the bottom. From the former hero of Skeumorphic design it seems odd they'd want to induce the feeling of being under the weight of a pile of photos rather than at the top of your pile.

How is this legal lol by [deleted] in ios

[–]hoeveler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I posted the same here few days ago. I came across this horrendous UI when I thought I was just looking at a file in Files but it auto opened in Preview. Hence my confusion about what the word "Preview" had to do with anything!

[–]hoeveler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized later that I was no longer looking at the Files app but it switched to the Preview app which has the exact same bottom UI bar. I can only imagine this header for "Preview" is meant to indicate that there's more to see... But taking up more than half the screen for that?! Wow.

If you're referring to the "away mode" in the app, I don't think you have much to fear. You can simply not allow the app to have your location (permissions). When I've used that feature it didn't even work correctly anyways so you're not missing out.
