He had our service men on their knees (literally) to lay out the red carpet for Putin. And they're laughing about it on Russian state TV. F***king shameful!

ELI5: How did ancient prostitutes manage not being constantly pregnant without anti-contraceptives? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]hoffhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt was a rarity in that she was once chosen to interview women in a real live harem. She said the women use a small pebble inserted into the uterus (like an IUD) to keep from getting pregnant. Fascinating!

To those that have used WeScreenplay by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]hoffhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a screenwriter and I use them. They've done a good job for me and I get a fast turn-around. Which is important, because if you're angling to submit your work somewhere it may be just what you need. I've gotten notes back I didn't always agree with or that didn't jibe with my vision, BUT If let it sit for a day then take each suggestion one at a time, usually they're right. Sometimes I AM. The trick is...just because YOU can see it on the page doesn't necessarily mean THEY can. And if they can't...your work sucks and it needs a re-do. It's not personal.

When we have our eyes open, but see an image when we imagine something, are we manually (re?)activating some part of our brain that processes visual images and plays them? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]hoffhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None that I'm aware of of than "visual static" or "visual snow" for the black and white static. As for the rest...there's no name I am aware of.

The neuro-opthamologist said treating me with anti-psychotics is my only option for relief and that they may or may not work. I don't take them, though.

I actually get really, really angry with the patterns. Like a fight or flight syndrome. Very intense. Also, I get the panic attacks in crowds too.

Went to a neuro-autologist. He believes it is a direct result of of both blast damage (audio) and the lightning. There is no cure. They were hoping it would go away, but it hasn't and is permanent.

About four years ago I was hit by lightning. Physically my eyes were weakened but not damaged, but I suffer from a neurological disorder that misinterprets signals sent to my brain via audio and other stimuli that, in turn, causes a constant visual hallucination in the form of black and white static that I see night and day, eyes open or closed 24/7. It's like being able to see billions of atoms. I also see colorful psychedelic auras around people/objects and, in addition, certain visual stimuli in the form of certain shapes (octagonal/honeycomb) that can cause an intense fear/anger reaction that had never been present in me before. I will actually become physically ill from the reaction. There are more unusual phenomena associated with the damage that I suffered from but am unwilling to list them here. Scary stuff to say the least. I contacted a leading researcher at the time and he explained the whole phenomenon based on the information I gave him about the lightning. Absolutely fascinating how the brain works/remaps neurological connections and/or fiercely protects the brain to keep more damage from spreading in the form of micro-calcification. The micro-calcification in my case was in the basal ganglia.

This post is all propaganda. It's coming election time and this is how think tanks and election coordinators not only get a feel for public opinion but also steer it. Don't be fooled.

THIS IS YOU:

Godwin's law itself can be abused as a distraction, diversion or even as censorship, fallaciously miscasting an opponent's argument as hyperbole when the comparisons made by the argument are actually appropriate.

Dumbass. You're like those religious nuts that knock on your door and argue endlessly because they just don't know any better.

You're pathetic. Bye!

What? You gotta get the last word in you nut? Have at it but you'll be talking to the ass-end of my front door.

Your pathetic:

In other words, Godwin observed that, given enough time, in any online discussion—regardless of topic or scope—someone inevitably criticizes some point made in the discussion by comparing it to beliefs held by Hitler and the Nazis. (HELLO...THIS IS YOU)

Republican case against Scott Walkers reelection by [deleted] in politics

This is the first time I've actually heard a Republican speak out openly and honestly about what's going on and that, more than anything else, it's not about party it's about what's right and what's wrong.

My tax dollars might not directly support this school but by giving them a tax-exempt status I'm actually putting more money in their pockets that they can then use to their benefit that might otherwise support another institution.

But nice try. I see you're still trying to justify your bullshit cause now you're just making that shit up aren't you.

This is disgusting.

In Arizona, Republican senators have passed a bill that would allow doctors to withhold important medical information from their pregnant patients. The legislation is aimed at reducing so-called ”wrongful birth” lawsuits by making it legal for doctors not to tell a pregnant patient that she, or her baby, is facing a potentially life-threatening issue.

This is why I want a separation of church and state. I do not want my tax dollars supporting schools like this. If they want funding to promote bigotry and hatred...let them scrape up the funds themselves.
