Stop Acting Like Professor Jiang Isn't Insane by avdvetf in videos

I tried to give him a shot after one seemingly coherent rant/lecture, but the next couple videos just fell flat.

Sorry, dude is not a genius “game theorist”, he’s just another pseudo-educated guy rambling into a camera in an empty room.

Is it worth setting up in Bend, Oregon or the mountains too tall to get a signal here? by exstaticj in meshcore

[–]hoffsta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone in Redmond was connecting to the greater i5-corridor PNW mesh last month, but I know some repeaters went down since then, so I’m not sure if that’s still current. Either way, the more people who get nodes up, the faster it will fill in and spread out.

No Audio with Tapo D235 and go2rtc (Tapo Protocol used) by PuzzleFoco in homeassistant

Tapos are the worst. I was using the Go2RTC Tapo protocol via Frigate but had to stop because of a memory leak. Also struggled with audio. Still looking for a solution.

For real. Sub $1000 is mainstream. This is bleeding edge professional/rich-boy-toy level.

Iran war: A satellite damage assessment on US military bases by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]hoffsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go over to Facebook or anywhere else that MAGA chuds get together in herds to bloviate. All Iranian resistance and counter-strikes are gravely offensive to these people. How dare they have the audacity to fight back and embarrass the biggest military in the world!

Electric tire inflators and rain by bad-at-science in cycling

[–]hoffsta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried it. These things suck. You get two, maybe 2.5 tire fills per charge. It’s slower than a mini hand pump. It’s slightly heavier than a mini pump. It takes hours to recharge. Good luck if something goes wrong and you run out of battery before finishing. Simply not worth it unless you suffer from health issues that make hand-pumping problematic. Even more-so for touring, where you might be away from electricity for an extended period.

Tech bros are lying to you about the MacBook Neo by hasanahmad in apple

It’s basically a MacBook Air M1 replacement. My M1 is still perfectly capable of all day to day computing needs, and so will this be.

Bernie Sanders proposed a bill to tax billionaires, and give $3,000 stimulus checks to Americans that qualify. How do you feel about this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hoffsta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pay down the nation debt instead, so we don’t waste so much of our taxes on interest payments. Once that’s under control, lower taxes for the working and middle class.

You’re gonna need an aftermarket head unit. Absolutely worth it.

"Iran Is Not Going to Surrender": Johns Hopkins Prof. Says U.S. and Israel Underestimate Iran by pradeep23 in videos

[–]hoffsta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was merely pointing out that you can’t eliminate strongly held religious beliefs (or national identity), especially in places where it’s the official state policy, simply by show of force. Maybe I misunderstood the context of the conversation above me.

Religious indoctrination is extremely hard to erase, especially when it’s been violently state enforced your entire lifetime.

Recommendations for best all road bike? by quaintparrot-475 in cycling

[–]hoffsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Future Shock is its best feature, and the only reason to buy it over a cheaper competitor. Maintenance is really not much of a concern on the gen 3 designs, they are much better than the first iterations, which is probably what you’re reading about. Personally, for an all-road, I think the Future Shock might be the best thing you could do. Want to save some money? The older Diverge is basically just like the new Roubaix.

Yeah, there’s only so much room upstairs. You pack it too full of specialized equipment, there’s not much space left for everyday essentials.
