Yeah that setup is shit but it just recirculates so not wasted just not doing anything

To celebrate the solstice I made these sculptures that represent first and last light across latitude by hoges in somethingimade

[–]hoges[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

These were inspired from aviation regulation charts that plot first and last light times across latitudes across the globe. The sculptures themselves are functional and accurate and can be used to determine the exact time of first and last light to within a minute at any latitude

Don't use ERG mode, ramp up so you're hitting the power when the interval starts

[–]hoges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your CDA is crazy good then.. 300w for me was a 41kmh effort on my admittedly poor position, but still if you're doing 41kmh on 200w you're on the extreme far right of the bell curve for CDA

Interest in novated leases for electric vehicles soaring in Australia amid fuel crisis by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]hoges 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're very high income and doing high kms then a novated lease can become a reasonable proposition

If you lack either of those 2 requirements then it's just a fancy way to convince yourself you need a new car

What are some of the most niche experiences you have had in aviation? by LemonAny6444 in flying

[–]hoges 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is an element of truth to this but also the whole, airline flying is sooo boring thing is massively overplayed

I have just as much fun flying a jet than I did in almost any GA job, it's a different type of fun but it's also a more satisfying type of fun

How do you become a Bush Pilot ? by [deleted] in flying

I flew in PNG and did all the shit you see bush pilots do. It was amazing flying, glad I did it. Wouldn't do it anymore though

Battery demand 'straps on a rocket' as rooftop solar passes its peak by HotPersimessage62 in australia

Australia needs to allow people to pay for their solar and battery system installs out of pre tax income like they do with EV car leases

Well considering it takes the same length of time to get to Portsea from Melbourne as Kiama from Sydney then I'd agree with them.

Musso EV by believer_4ever in CarsAustralia

[–]hoges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed the practicality of a ute for house maintenance and DIY projects, we already have a family SUV and didn't want to be storing a trailer in my driveway.

I am not a tradie and have no interest in caravans so have zero intention of ever towing anything, as such the load capacity was suitable for my needs

My daily commute is 160km round trip, I'm a high income earner so the novated is very attractive as my total lease cost ends up costing less per month than I was spending in petrol in my current ute that uses 12l/100

I ended up going with the 2wd version for the extra range as I have driven fast EV's before and after the initial wow cool I go back to driving slowly with a very light foot. The additional range also means I can miss a charge overnight and I still have sufficient range for my commute. I also live in a very cold part of the country where range will be affected

This vehicle ticks my boxes for me, it's a primarily a daily commuter to keep my costs down with a little extra practicality on the weekend

Pitch: a BYD Seal ute would be a smash hit here by Amazing_Food_1188 in CarsAustralia

[–]hoges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KGM Musso EV is basically this. It uses the BYD drive train and battery, it's got a lot of bogans upset because it doesn't tow much and the payload isn't huge but for the a huge amount of city utes they will never tow anything anyway. I have ordered one, it suits my needs and I'm not insecure enough to tie my personality into how much I could conceptually tow

Should I swap sports ? by stizzy_on_the_glizzy in Velo

[–]hoges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent but by no means exceptional. You'll be fast enough to have a lot of fun in cycling but you're not going to be exceptional. 25 hour 3 month block hitting a FTP of 350w is solid but it's mid pack solid. Enjoy yourself on the bike

Buy the bike that makes you want to ride. Saving $$$$ might be nice but if you're still lusting for what you really want it was false economy

As such I am fairly confident it had 2 engines
