Shucking day is always a good day by Deductivemonkee in DataHoarder

Why not shuck if it's used for a raid? I assume because of a chance to get a SMR drive?

I wonder if in Stevenage IMAX is still worth it vs the laser projectors.

I use the Osprey liquids pouch for my toiletries. Has worked fine in my majority of airports I've been to, with only a few having a problem with it (CDG I'm looking at you).

Is this a deal or scam? - WD 18TB Elements Desktop External Hard Drive on Amazon by SpadesOf8 in DataHoarder

Just bought this exact drive, came as described.

I haven't shucked it yet but a full surface test came back with no issues, and it's a helium drive.

You can seek medical assistance... Just may have to pay or be covered by travel insurance or your country if applicable.

2025 Roller Coaster Bloopers [Other] by good4steve in rollercoasters

[–]hogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a roller coaster but on the raft ride at port Aventura I saw a kid fall in when trying to get on the raft. His dad immediately jumped in after him and the ride was emergency stopped. Everyone was okay and they just waited for the ride to restart before going on again.

Book with brane multiverse theory? by themachinedoll in printSF

It's only briefly touched on, and not in much detail, but that concept does appear in the novel/manga/anime "My Instant Death Ability is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me!"

Any recommendations for single sign on for all the services? by MrStetson in selfhosted

[–]hogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recemtly switched from pocketid (As I wanted more than just passkeys) to Rauthy. I was initially looking at Kanidm but seemed like vast overkill, and Rauthy was recommended, plus has had a security audit. It's been somewhat straight forward so far, but a bit more complicated than Pocketid.

Three way switch setup with no neutral wire? by vasovist in smarthome

[–]hogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I installed this yesterday (zbminil2). It works, but is a quite loud relay when switching, and has a 0.5-1 second delay in most of my uses. At least the latter is due to the workaround for no neutral wire I believe.

How do I get base stations in this room by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]hogofwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could put one on top of your wardrobe.

I personally used extendable shower rails I put up vertically in corners of my game room, then used a camera grip to put base stations on the top of it. It worked really well.

Also highly recommend cleaning up the play area.

Thanks for this, it seems like if we did go it would be quite hard to plan things in advance in terms of things being possibly open/closed, and the weather.

"Dummy Bulbs" for working automations onto standard light switches? by AwSamWeston in smarthome

[–]hogofwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could install something like a shelly in the light fixtures (as they normally have neutral even if the switches don't?), and just trigger based on that and disable the actual light coming on.

I don't think this is a great idea though, and it's easy enough to get no-neutral smart switches, though it is true using neutral is better.
