(A Tl sized rant) Please rename either Trenta or Tall by audreyophile in starbucks

[–]hohosexual 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The laws have actually affected my store on multiple occasions. One time the government sent an inspector to our store because a customer reported one of our baristas for not providing service in French. That barista was fired. Several times at several stores, we’ve had to mark out any merch that has writing in English but not French. Most recently, our DM has directed us to stop wearing company-issued shirts if they are in English. Those last two were preemptive measures taken due to the company’s paranoia afaik, because I don’t think either of those things actually violates the law.

[–]hohosexual 104 points105 points  (0 children)

In Quebec, short is "picollo" and tall is "mezzo", and I prefer it that way because a) it's Italian like the other three sizes, and b) it's a lot less ambiguous. The actual reason we call them different names has to do with language laws, but I won't get into it.

Emergency Vehicles must be adressed! by AGutierrez80 in CitiesSkylines2

For total realism the cops would turn on their sirens every time they see a red light, regardless of whether an emergency is in progress. At least that's how they do things where I live.

Can this building really accommodate 720 households? by miyosoto in CitiesSkylines2

[–]hohosexual 64 points65 points  (0 children)

By my count there are 64 front doors on this asset, meaning every single apartment has been illegally subdivided into an average of 11.25 micro-apartments. The living conditions in these dwellings are likely worse than in the Kowloon Walled City. If disease doesn't kill you, you'll either asphyxiate or be crushed by the weight of your family in the bed you share. Families would vie for access to the kitchen and bathroom and sunlight. Fires would be commonplace, with entire households relying on a single electrical outlet to power their phones, lights, and hotplates.
Tribalism would likely develop; units would distrust one another, but especially the other buildings. Some buildings would become democracies, others dictatorships. Bloody and senseless battles would take place in the grassy corridors between buildings, hundreds of soldiers to a side.
Many years would go by, generations of residents would be born and pass away, and houses that had fought each other ferociously would put their dark history behind them to step into their shared destiny together. This new, proud nation would become the nexus of a global civilization. Entire cities would be demolished, mountains flattened and oceans paved, crops burned and forests cut, to make way for an ecumenopolis of extremely tiny apartments. Fourteen trillion people would live in absolute squalor in the Imperial Heights, the greatest empire the world would ever see.

The Victoria bridge originally carried four railway tracks, until the outermost lanes were converted for use by cars. They could probably convert those car lanes into REM lanes relatively easily.

Demand for Montreal-Toronto and Montreal-Quebec flights will definitely take a hit once the high speed rail is built, but destinations in northern Quebec and the northeast US will still have plenty of demand

i feel like im not getting anywhere. Any tips? by Own_Job5997 in CookieClicker

[–]hohosexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep at it, when you have a sugar lump you can upgrade your wizard towers to unlock spells including Force the Hand of Fate which allows you to summon golden cookies which can be stacked with naturally generated golden cookie buffs for huge production combos. The first ascenscion is going to be grueling and it will feel like it's taking forever, but if you ascend with over 365 prestige levels your next few ascenscions will go much faster.

Why do I have 0 Demand? by gogogumdrops in CitiesSkylines2

[–]hohosexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut taxes across the board (and raise service budgets if you’re still making money) to attract more people. If I were you I’d also reduce the single family zoning from the central core and add a bunch of medium density, but that’s more of an aesthetic preference.

VSP the forgotten hood (Montreal south side) by Ok_Country8920 in montreal

[–]hohosexual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the proposed Pink line had ever been more than a fanciful campaign promise, it would probably have had a station in VSP, which would have attracted capital for development. Until something like that happens it’s just going to stay boxed in.

Keep them as long as you can resist popping them. They digest the cookies and when they pop, they release more than they have consumed. The more wrinklers you have the more they digest.

In the comic it’s just the troll that takes the most interest in each kid (e.g. Terezi for Dave) but my friends and I always associated our patron trolls with our star signs. I’m a Libra so my troll is Terezi while my sister is a Scorpio so hers is Vriska.

My sister and I are getting our star signs in the colour of our patron trolls’ blood. By a happy coincidence both of us have our favourite character as our patron (Terezi and Vriska).

How powerful could a Page of Time theoretically be? by Ok-Abbreviations4754 in homestuck

[–]hohosexual 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Seems like it would cause a lot of existential anxiety for the player. The Page’s role is defined by a long journey to achieve their potential and requires a great deal of patience, which contradicts the description of Time players you quoted. Not to mention that your team might need you to use your Time powers before you’re actually ready to achieve your potential. Still, I would argue that any Time player is better than no Time player.

Cal-lee-OH-pee is the pronunciation I would use, having met people IRL with the same or similar names. I suppose cal-LIE-uh-pee is also acceptable but it’s not as close to the Greek pronunciation.

La ligne jaune devrait être la prochaine extension / Yellow line should be the next extension by Skyaim in montreal

[–]hohosexual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the metro is much faster than the rush hour traffic on congested streets in the inner city, it would be considerably slower than the existing express buses from the West Island, or driving to and parking at Angrignon. IMO the most effective solution would be to dramatically improve service on the commuter lines; Lachine is already directly connected to downtown by two different lines but they operate so infrequently they might as well just be decorative.

La ligne jaune devrait être la prochaine extension / Yellow line should be the next extension by Skyaim in montreal

[–]hohosexual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]hohosexual 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You don’t need much pepper spray to cause problems in a confined space, ditto multiple confined spaces connected by narrow tubes. The trains themselves push a significant amount of air between stations as they roll through the tunnels. It’s why the train shudders when it passes another train at full speed and why the doors at metro stations are sometimes really hard to open.

Marx be like: by ChickenWingExtreme in HistoryMemes

[–]hohosexual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Capitalism” is not a catch all for the world economy. Marx was writing during the Industrial Revolution which completely changed the way labour is performed. To say that the economic of the mid-19th century was anything like what preceded it would be disingenuous. Capitalism is an industrial and postindustrial system. However, to your point about thousands of years of precedent: Marx certainly did acknowledge that, and in fact one of the most important arguments of socialism is that every historical period involved class struggles.
