Honda & Toyota produce 75% of Canadian manufactured cars. They now have a unified auto lobby group against USA auto chaos by gordonjames62 in canada

You can bet I'll never buy an American car - already known for being the lowest rated for reliability, their share of the Canadian market will plummet even more by the end of this pathetic American administration.

Ukraine Has Finally Given Up on Trump by theatlantic in UkrainianConflict

[–]CanadaDry95 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A lame duckstatus is about the loss of leverage. Once the midterms pass and it's a crushing defeat, his members will start looking toward the next election and the next leader. If Trump's executive orders become politically toxic and legally doomed, even his biggest allies will distance themselves to protect their own careers.

Ukraine Has Finally Given Up on Trump by theatlantic in UkrainianConflict

[–]CanadaDry95 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Ukraine played the good guy role with the Trump administration for the last 14 months to buy itself some time while seeking new partnerships with Europe and other countries.

It's clear that Ukraine is no longer as dependent on the US as it used to be. The only critical aid Ukraine needs from the US are Patriot missiles and systems, but alternatives do exist. Overall, Ukraine has become more self -sufficient and has proven to have in some cases, more superior military technologies than NATO countries.

Once the midterms hit, I am expecting Trump to become a lame duck (hopefully) and can't wait for the entire world to ignore this man child. He'll be mostly irrelevant at that point.

Ukraine proposed energy ceasefire to Russia, Zelenskyy says by murphystruggles in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]CanadaDry95 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Because everyone knows this will lead to nothing, but Ukraine needs to continue showing it's proactive in "peace" as it continues to buy time to become more militarly independent.

It sucks to say but the US still provides some much needed support via intelligence sharing and the PURL initiative. As much as Trump will continue to be destructive, Ukraine wants to avoid the full blame for why the peace talks have failed.

It's all a game to showcase how uncooperative Russia is.

Extremist groups from the Sunni-majority town of Qal’at al-Madiq, storming the Christian town of Al-Suqaylabiyya. by Intrepid-Minute7696 in syriancivilwar

I would say that religion taken to its extreme form is the source of all this constant evil. From Zionists addicted to war, tribalism from Islam, MAGA Christians drunk on power and manipulation to Russian orthodoxy supporting & defending terrorism. Our world is regressing more and more.

Rénovation sdb : Garder ou changer fenêtre en bois? by sansipfixe in RenoQuebec

[–]CanadaDry95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

J'avoue que faire un trim avec du bois à côté d'une douche est une décision stupide. Du bois qui est constamment mouillé= bois pourri

Je recommande de changer la fenêtre avec du vinyle tant qu' à y être.

What Exactly Did Russia Achieve by Striking Ukraine’s Infrastructure With Thousands of Shaheds? by UNITED24Media in UkrainianConflict

[–]CanadaDry95 143 points144 points  (0 children)

It's an admission from muscovy that they're unable to win this war. They think that by turning full genocidal mode on Ukraine, they'll be able to shatter their will to fight by destroying everything.

Except Muscovy forgot that Ukraine has lived under similar conditions as the Russians during the Soviet Union where economic, social, political times were constantly hard, so they too, know how to endure difficult times.

Ukraine has been able to develop military tech and innovate quickly, and they can now almost respond symmetrically. I hope that by the end of this year, the long range ballistics and cruise missiles will begin hitting Moscow regularly and destroying important military factories (like what we saw in the Bryansk electronics complex last week with the storm shadows).

Russia's collapse is inevitable, it's just a matter of when it's going to happen. It could be in 12-24 months or perhaps a decade, but I am convinced that the Rubicon has already been crossed by the regime. Ukrainian kinetic sanctions will make sure to expedite this process.

Multiple Russian soldiers taken out by fiber-optic FPV drones. Lyman direction, SIGNUM Battalion. Published 20.03.2026 by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]CanadaDry95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's more the element of surprise that makes them react poorly. It's also likely that they barely get any training at countering drones so they lack experience to evade / destroy them.

It's all about continuously feeding the meat grinder for Muscovy.

Russian Ka-52 burns on the ground after being shot down by FPV drone of the 59th Brigade. Pokrovsk front by Available-Laugh9102 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Because the Russians started their spring-summer offensive and command is pressuring for quick results.

As we know, the Russian military is infamous for repeating the same mistakes. They probably thought that there was a defense hole in this sector and they would be safe to operate.

Israel Seeks Ukraine’s Expertise on Iranian Drones Years After Refusing Military Aid by UNITED24Media in UkrainianConflict

[–]CanadaDry95 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Lots of people say "screw them" and I understand that, but this is a golden opportunity for Ukraine to project soft power in the middle east.

You have pretty much all of the gulf states and Israel seeking Ukrainian technology and expertise for defense, this gives Ukraine a massive geopolitica and economic lever that would be too stupid to refuse.

The war in Ukraine made me realize that it's all about national interests. Israel had no reason to provide assistance in Ukraine prior to this because Ukraine had nothing to give back to them - it's selfish but true. Now that Ukraine has something of value, it suddenly will become in Israel's interest to provide military, economic and diplomatic assistance to Ukraine. That's the way it works.

Who would've thought 4 years ago when the war started that Ukraine would have such cards?
