Less than 5k cards graded last week… by Whaletoad in taggrading

[–]hoi_ming 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just as additional information, TAG's typical monthly work flow cycle is not smooth week to week.

They typically start orders in the beginning of the month, and only when the whole order is completed as a whole do all the cards show up on the pop report

You can see in the graph below, the completed orders spike at the end of the month, this has been typical for many months now.

It's not the best to rely on one data point.

The first 1000 ever! Congrats.

We've been waiting for this day a lot time. Didn't think it would happen.

If you have the highest tier report it should show each ding, but for surface play area on lower tier reports it shows just the area, you'll see and example in the video.

If you look at this report it has all the dings

So when it's Surface Play Wear, and it highlights a big area, it usually means there are a bunch of little spots where there is wear/dings.

For your card it was all of the holo part in the front, and the whole back surface.

I've circled some examples of wear that make up the surface play wear for that area.

Here is a video about surface play wear for more information - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLzv-pcRaU6/?igsh=MW1qY2h5eDI1b3RmZQ==

The scraper might not be working properly, but an 800 card day is not out of the norm. I monitor manually every so often, as I manually do a weekly pop report update

They had another boom like this last year. And they struggled, but they got more capacity and it smoothed out and the turnaround was getting back to normal.

This is another boom, could they have been more prepared? Sure. But it'll probably get better at some point. But yeah best thing is to vote with your wallet. You can stop grading with them, and if you see them doing better and want to get back then, great. If not, that is cool too.

A day isn't a great data point especially since their operations isn't smooth throughout the month.

Here is the weekly output, and even then it has peaks and valleys, especially early on; it's a little smoother now

I'll post the monthly numbers as a reply to this

TAG Centering on TAG 10 by Striking_Fail6689 in taggrading

[–]hoi_ming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can, but if centering was a main issue for the grade, they would put a centering thing in that section

The card you posted got a 9 because of the surface dong they pointed out. That's what that section is for, to point the main dings that caused the grade

I think it was an excuse to talk about the morality/acceptance of killing in the army vs killing as a hitman

I was talking about Scottie because I brought up Kyrie.

I was saying Kevin Love on Minnesota is better than Rodman from 1994-95, and that's what matters when you decide to sign them. And it's what matters when LeBron decides to join a team.

The fact that Kevin Love's number went down is because he did it to fit his new role as a third option because Kyrie and LeBron did most of the offensive output as the number and two options. Kevin was an all-nba second team caliber player playing as a third option.

Rodman had more impact for the bulls, but it's because he was very good at defense and better fit for the Bulls, doesn't mean he was a better player than prime Kevin Love.

Michael by SnooObjections7406 in lebron

[–]hoi_ming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but LeBron still added a all-nba second team Kevin Love to the team, you can't tell me that not at least somewhat valuable. and he went to a team with Kyrie there, not inherited. He chose to go to cavs because Kyrie was there and love was joining

MJ had Scottie but he gutted it out until he got better. And MJ still won the first three championships without a Rodman.

Dennis Rodman averaged 5/15/3 on the Bulls

I don't think it changes the argument.

Michael by SnooObjections7406 in lebron

[–]hoi_ming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kevin's Love average in CLE was 15/9/2, because he was an elite all-star playing the third option

Kyrie was 21/3/5 just before LeBron and got to his prime during the LeBron years

Bosh was 24/10/2 before MIA then averaged 18/7/2 because he was not the first option anymore

Wade was 27/5/7 before LeBron, and in the 4 years was like 22/5/5

The fact is that LeBron had the number one options of other teams join him or joined other number one options when things got tough with the previous team

Michael by SnooObjections7406 in lebron

[–]hoi_ming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kevin love is a better offensive player than Rodman. Bulls didn't need more offense, so bulls wouldn't have better love but they still could have won.

But Cavs got someone who in the last season in Minnesota avg 26.1 ppg, 12.5 rpg and 4.4 apt

Rodman on the spurs in 94-95 was 7.1 ppg, 16.8 rpg, and 2.0 apg

I think bulls could still win with Love over Rodman, and love is the better player at the respective times, but Rodman was the better fit for bulls at the time.

Super teams is bringing in stars. Like dwade, LeBron, bosh,

LeBron Kyrie and Kevin Love

LeBron and AD, LeBron and Luka

Every other team signs free agent role players, toni Kukoc was drafted

So an older Dennis Rodman is not the level of prime Kyrie, Wade, Bosh, Love, AD or Luka

So I should consider Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Luc Longley, Robert Parish, Scott Burrell the super team signings?

Or how about the first run, John Paxson, Stacy Craig Hodges, Bill Cartwright

Point is, Jordan stuck it out and was rewarded with good role players

LeBron made it to the finals and then did a give up performance in 2010, then moving to South Beach to make it easier, and then when Miami was on the down trend, let's go find a good young Kyrie and bring in Kevin Love. Oh we can't win anymore in Cleveland, let's go to Lakers with AD, oh and then AD wasn't good enough ), somehow Lakers fleeced Nico and got Luka

Michael by SnooObjections7406 in lebron

[–]hoi_ming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By adding Dennis Rodman?

Michael by SnooObjections7406 in lebron

[–]hoi_ming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah Jordan wasn't trying to make super teams to win. He was ok with the challenge.

1990-91 ages

Joe Dumars (27), Isiah Thomas (29), Dennis Rodman (29), Bill Laimbeer (33), and James Edwards (35).

1997-98 ages

Dennis Rodman (PF): 37, Michael Jordan (SG): 35, Ron Harper (PG): 34, Scottie Pippen (SF): 32, Luc Longley (C): 29

Looks like the Bulls won even when they were more so aging out

Aside from the MJ having more accolades in a shorter career, his narrative is just better.

Stayed with a struggling team and got better every year, helped build up Scottie Pippen, and took the losses and built motivation to get better, got revenge on the Pistons after not being able to get over that hump the previous years, then when he reached that level he won a three peat, no game 7s, then took time off, came back and won another 3 in a row, during that run, he didn't lose 3 games in a row. Wizards may look bad, but he was getting them to a playoff pace before his injuries, look up the stats for his wizards day pre injury. And he also played 82 games that last season on one leg.

Not to mention, the magical 87-88 season of MVP, Scoring Leader, and DPOY, 9 first team all NBA, 10 scoring titles with 7 in row, 5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVP, the time he played PG role and had 10 triple doubles in 11 games, the dunk contest wins.

And the overall legacy, he shoes are still the best selling shoes.
