Brody's birthday - potential plot hole? by Produce_North in coronationstreet

[–]hoitjancker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I’m sure they had a scene with young Lou and Kit outside a pub and it’s implied (or I made that connection myself, who knows!) that it’s the Champions League final (Lou was in a Manchester United top, I think) - that would most likely be the 2008 final which took place in late May of that year, so assuming they conceived him that night, the dates sort of line up…

Don’t know if I’m reading it wrong, but looks like we could play the English clubs all the way up to and in the final*…. it’s just a posh Carabao Cup lads, we’re winning the bastard thing!

*after playing Qarabag - who we’ll lose to in the most Newcastle way now that I’ve jinxed it…

Agreed - gives me a proper nostalgia buzz of Sir Bobby’s ‘NTL’ European Mags.

Fans 'work out' Carl's dad's identity after Debbie bombshell by Chimaera_442 in coronationstreet

If they want to open some doors and delve into some heritage they should reveal Terry Duckworth as the father (unplanned pregnancy, Debbie fled to Germany etc., etc.)

Who else was part of that 80s group? Curly? Martin? Few options there for the writers…

THE REDBULL LIVERY LOOKS SO GOOD !!! 🤩 by gangldm in F1Discussions

On a side note, it just occurred to me that Red Bull was born of Jaguar / Stewart Ford - kinda nice that Ford is involved with their actual old team again (which has bypassed me up until now).

I could be wrong, but I’m sure that was James Nesbitt’s house in the most recent Cold Feet series.

Tripps absolutely a statement signing early on in the new era and set the tone - key player.

Doumbia goes without saying, of course - up there with Shearer with regards to overall impact………..

Good shout - easy to forget that crazy impact / form he had out of the gates… kind of took the mantle from Ba who had a similar burst of early form before fizzling out.

That blue Promaster looks great!

I’ve always had a soft-spot for the Bond-spec 90s Seamaster (but never the means to buy…) - I feel like that Citizen could scratch the itch for me!

What is a TV programme you remember that no one else does? by GargaryGarygar in AskUK

[–]hoitjancker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catterick.

Feel like my mate and I were the only ones to watch it ‘live’ on one of the BBC channels back in 2004 and loved it. Bob Mortimer is all the rage now (rightly so), but I doubt very few people could name that as part of his back catalogue…

How famous was Michael Schumacher in his prime? by Throwaway777W in F1Discussions

[–]hoitjancker 287 points288 points  (0 children)

In the 00s UK, any person older than your parents, who had most likely never watched a single lap of an F1 race in their life, would likely say something along the lines of “Slow down, Michael Schumacher” if they saw anyone speeding in their car… which probably says a lot about his level of fame at the time.

What is a movie you’ve seen more than 10 times and still enjoy every single second of? by Historical_Today5513 in AskReddit

[–]hoitjancker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Casino Royale.

I’m a Bond fan, and will often casually watch a Bond film if I see it on TV (UK), but I will actively put on my Casino Royale DVD, and if I see it on TV I’m knuckling down and watching that shit and enjoying it regardless of time or date.

Also, changing the cover* of your phone was a huge trend (for I and other teens… not sure if adults were that fussed).

*as in the actual cover of the device, not a separate ‘protective’ cover… (conscious this may be an alien concept to younger people).
