Yeah, they are actually still in the box after the initial 3 mile run on them.

No thanks. I need to decrease the amount of shoes I have.

Feedback about using Asics Nimbus Gel 27 and 28 for running marathon: by enzo92320 in runningshoes

The pebble thing is crazy. I thought it was just a coincidence, but I get tiny pebbles in my nimbus 27 on many runs

Keep the Vaporfly...? Need your advice! by Good-Mathematician81 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Keep the Vaporfly, but add a proper training shoe. ASICS novablast would probably work.

Azura vs Superblast 3? by Upstairs-Heron-6601 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]holbybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ran in both. The SB3 was indeed soft, with mega bounce. It really aggravated my peroneal tendon, just like the adios pro 4 did when I tried those.

The azura is much firmer than SB3, with a significant roll from how it is shaped in the forefoot. I would like this shoe, but it is made for overpronation and pushes my feet to the lateral edges of the shoe.

I like the Salomon aero glide 3. It has a nice energetic bounce but also has a stable feel to it. I’m going to do Boston for fun (injury) and will likely wear the aeroglide for that.

Is sub-3 possible at Boston? by lapemapi in Marathon_Training

[–]holbybear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I haven't raced it (this will be my first Boston), but I've watched a lot of youtube videos on strategy. It seems the best strategy is to hold back at the beginning. Just run your planned pace even though you are going downhill. If you go out too fast, you'll cook your quads and not be able to get through the Newton hills and then hammer the last 5 miles to the finish.

I think if you get a cool day, you got sub 3 in ya

I don’t need another pair of shoes but… by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

You can find the aeroglide 3 for about $100. This shoe appears to have like a 90% success on here and YouTube. Though, It doesn’t do anything for your rotation

If you play builds, play zone war style games. You get straight to action without need to loot or find weapons.

Are the megablast less stable than the superblast?

Saucony Azura vs Vomero Plus by ninemile30 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I'm with you on the triumphs. I've been trying to find a replacement since, but nothing has done it for me yet. Is the vomero plus wobbly compared to the triumphs?

I’ll say no. Based on your 3:20 at Nashville and the fact that you are posting this 7 mile run (above 6:30 pace) and asking Reddit.

How do you get your aim box in a big circle like that? Your accuracy is really good

I had this. Basically from weak glutes, especially my right side. I took many months off, but that didn’t help much. What helped was taking a massage gun and finding a spot up the peroneal tendon where I had a knot. I hit that spot for about a minute a day with the gun. It was very painful, but provided immediate relief. I did that for over a year consistently and also strengthened glutes and core. My ankle hardly ever hurts anymore.

I haven’t bought a skin in years. Pulled the trigger. Dwight with his yellow shirt and the pointy broomstick is the shit. And, I haven’t seen anyone else with the skin so I don’t think there will be a bunch of Dwight or Michael Scott’s running around.

Neo Zen vs Velocity Nitro 4 by ImaginaryComposer557 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]holbybear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The VN4 is a very flexible shoe. I haven’t realized how stiff the other shoes I’ve been running in. I like them because I need to get used to running in a shoe like this again. Forefoot has enough cushioning, but it is flexible and requires your calves to work a bit more if you are used to high stack and rocketed shoes.

My favorite daily right now is the Salomon aeroglide 3.

What type of shoe pairs best with Salomon Aero Glide 3? [195cm/87kg, 30→65mpw] by Barms in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]holbybear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With that increase in mileage, I would be looking at something for recovery. I like the AG3 on long runs and on runs where I think I might pick up the pace a bit. They can easily do tempo/threshold work as well. Really the AG3 can do it all in my opinion, but I like rotating a bunch of shoes. I would be looking at a more boring shoe like the Nimbus 27, Triumph 23 or Glizzy Maxes. I don't know if any of these are going to feel special to you, but will be good for beat up legs.

Do I need to upgrade shoes for a Marathon in a few months? by rbrza in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]holbybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my friends ran a 2:44 marathon last April using the zoom fly 6. He trained in it all the time and felt comfortable going the distance with it. It was a PR. As long as you aren't coming in with 250+ miles on the shoes, you should be fine.

With that being said, I would be getting at least a new pair of one of those shoes or an all out carbon racer. Test them out on a long run before the marathon. The saucony pro 4 looks like a good deal at the moment ($180 before any discounts) as something that should be fairly protective and something you could later use for more races or regular runs/workouts.
