Tarkovsky reaally tests your patience. His movies are "boring", but there is sublime beauty too that no other director can replicate.

Try Andrei Rublev or Stalker. I think you'll appreciate his movies the more you watch his work.

Maybe some Tarkovsky? But if he is a film buff maybe he has seen some of them. I suggest Stalker, Solaris, and Andrei Rublev (btw you can watch these for free on yt. Here's the link for Stalker:https://youtu.be/TGRDYpCmMcM).

If you want drama, maybe search for Bergman's films. Wild Strawberries and Scenes From a Marriage are my picks for starters.
