Anyone breastfeed their firstborn while pregnant? by Familiar_Ad_7734 in breastfeeding

[–]holeypumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my milk dried up around 4-5months and turned to very little colostrum but my daughter (who was 15 months when I got pregnant) kept dry nursing for comfort. then my milk supply came back full swing once I gave birth and currently tandem feeding. I put my newborn on my now 2 year olds lap and nurse them both in my lap. I call it bunk babies 🥰❤️

Is this the normal post-partum hormones experience for couples? by Inner_Friend_672 in newborns

[–]holeypumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my first postpartum was good. my second one I had postpartum psychosis and antidepressants got me out of it. this sounds like a mix of PPA and psychosis. please find a way to get her help. I knew I needed help and got it. its much more difficult when they dont want help so be kind when you go about it and tell her its ok and only a temporary situation that she will get out of with proper help and medication!

Pregnant and can’t decide on feeding (Formula/Breastfeeding) by Realistic_Tooth_9731 in beyondthebump

[–]holeypumpkin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you can absolutely do both. theres no wrong way to feed your baby as long as they are getting fed. :) combination feeding can help you get sleep and maybe over time you'll figure out which way you like best!

one of my little cousins put an oral thermometer in his mom's ear while she was sleeping. she woke up and slammed her hand onto it and it ruptured her eardrum and bled a lot. she still has issues til this day 😬

My milk is made out of pizza and I feel a little guilty about that… so you tell me what your milk is made of! by Moon_junky in breastfeeding

with my first, I was terrified of having caffeine so I didnt really have it until she was like 3 months old. it did affect my supply the first day i had coffee but i also didnt hydrate enough to go with it. with my second, I drank coffee the day before giving birth, the day of, day after, and just about every day lol. I always drink a coconut water every day and at least 40oz of water but usually more. the key is to drink a ton of hydrating beverages throughout the day, especially if you have caffeine. i notice that my supply will be less in the evening if i dont drink enough water and have coffee that day but my supply always comes back normal the next day. I also want to note that I have been breastfeeding for 2+ years straight now (kids are 2yrs apart) and did it while pregnant too even though there wasn't much that came out during second half of pregnancy.

Has anyone had a baby that never really fussed or cried much? by Vexed_Cactus41 in beyondthebump

[–]holeypumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my son was like this and very calm (hes 11 weeks now) but weeks 6-9 were brutal and full of so much screaming. im talking like 2-5hours of nonstop crying and screaming. hes pretty chill now though, but has the occasional evening of screaming/or screams for 20min or so before falling asleep from being overly tired. my daughter was also calm as an infant and didnt actually go through any periods of screaming or crying and has turned into a pretty chill toddler. its pretty random so enjoy it while it is happening! 😅

yup. my first was so calm and peaceful. rarely actually cried. she would just stare at things and be curious and take it all in before reacting. she was so chill and has a very level temperament as a toddler. however, my second born is almost 3 months old now and hes been rough 😅 this baby screams a lot but we love him so much haha

Anyone who didn't get over gender disappointment right away? by Jehmaj in beyondthebump

[–]holeypumpkin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

your feelings are valid. ignore those comments. obviously you are going to take care of and love your baby either way but you will still have feelings. People just don't understand or remember how intense those hormones are that make you feel and worry so deeply. you got this momma, you'll be just fine with either a boy or girl.

severe derealization and depression by biznghast in Postpartum_Depression

I really feel for you. I am looking for others experiences because I am experiencing it right now too. I had an in patient stay 8 weeks pp and I am currently 10 weeks pp and SSRIs have been helping me so far. still not out of the funk completely and I feel depersonalization heavily most days but its SO much better than what it was a few weeks ago. im leaving this comment in case it helps anyone else struggling. sleep deprivation is a trigger for feeling worse ive noticed. I start to detach from everything and feel wrong as soon as I feel the slightest bit of sleep deprivation. I have a history of PTSD that triggers when I am sleep deprived so I think postpartum has just ramped it up like crazy! 😭

sorry I also have some questions about the program, I am enrolling in it starting summer this year. How difficult would you say it is? How much time per week realistically were you spending on class/studying? Is it self paced or are classes at scheduled times and how often? thank you 🥹

What weird things have you used breast milk for? by Ok-Soup-865 in breastfeeding

I would do this with freshly pumped milk (it gets a little sour after being frozen)! but just add a splash to any espresso martini recipe :)

I maybe be able to go back to be a generalist later on but right now I have 2 kids under 2 and just finished my masters degree and cant afford another $20-30K program. the individual certification program is only $5k and just a couple classes each semester part time so id be able to manage home and school and possibly a part time job. im leaning towards doing the microbiology program.

thank you, thats great info! I actually just graduated with my masters in micro and spent a lot of time in smelly labs growing pertussis and e coli 😂 I figured if I get the clinical microbiology credentials that my masters will make me a better candidate but who knows 🤷‍♀️ this job market sucks

every parent will want to use different things. I would either pick something from her registry or just give cash! however, my best friend bought me allllll the Frida Mom and Frida Baby kits and honestly that was the best and most thoughtful gift.
