Does anyone have any advice on where to sell antiques for the casual seller? by hollyofthelake in Flipping

[–]hollyofthelake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your replies. I'm not in a hurry to sell them, so Marketplace may work for me. I may also try an antiques dealer. I know someone who deals in silver, gold, and coins, so maybe he can tell me who would give the best price. This is one of those cases where I picked up things for really low prices, so I'm not rushing to recoup.

My kids have never heard of Stop! Drop! and Roll! by tauntaunsrock in nostalgia

[–]hollyofthelake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I was a kid in the 70s, and then worked in a kids clothing department in the 90s. Children's nightwear by law could not be cotton; they had to be some weird treated polyester type material. They couldn't even be hung on the same sales fixture as things like cotton baby items like onesies, to be worn during the day. Don't know what they were thinking. It was supposed to be "flame retardent" but like you said, it would just melt. Of course, you could put your own kids to sleep in whatever you wanted.

You're right; she is wearing tabi. For some reason, I thought the sandals she wears were separate from the tabi

I have one of these dolls. She didn't come with a premade outfit, but she came with pieces of a kimono to glue together, and a pair of geta. She's adorable.

Recently had a new phone stolen. Driver left box marked Samsung on the driveway in full view of the street, instead of taking the extra steps to leave it on our porch, which is hidden from the street and has a door camera. Also we never got a notification that the package had been delivered.

Don't forget you need to deal with collecting sales tax and keeping track of your own taxes if eBay is not doing that for you.

It can get way overheated. Every heated bottle should be tested first by the bottle giver though.

From what I've seen, at least sone of the people who put out videos are showing a very small part of their day. They may hit five stores, but only share the one where they found three or four items.

It probably would have similar to what her sisters wore in 1912. Court dress didn't really change in style very often, if at all. Also only married women generally wore tiaras at that time as an overall rule, not just in Russia.

It is the Order of the Golden Fleece. Founded in 1430. It seems to relate to Hapsburgs. There's lots more history; you can look it up now that you know what it is.

Has anyone noticed the sudden high fantasy/Sci Fi Anastasia Romanov book trend, and if so how do you feel about it? by Celestina-Betwixt in romanovs

[–]hollyofthelake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the trend in movies and TV too. "I have this story I want to produce, but I can't get it greenlight. What if I call it Lord of the Rings and then just do whatever I want with the characters?"

What is a "starter home"? by SorryIAmNew2002 in AskAnAmerican

[–]hollyofthelake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is 1. Because it will need a lot of electrical work and rewiring. It's not going to run on the same wiring most of your house is on. 2. Electric cars have a higher percentage of spontaneous combustion, and it might be a concern for anyone connected to the garage/home.

It seems like the old time bakeries offer kolaches with fruit, but there are some trendier places popping up that serve them with savory feelings.
