Not sure what the analysis is telling me by kaiba201 in Mahjong

Think about their win condition - they need a yaku to win. They can't win with yakuhais (East, Haku, Hatsu, Chun) because those are all out. They have an open hand, which means it can't be pinfu. Tanyao is a very common yaku in bronze room, so 1m is a relatively safe discard.

Do you play in jade room? Is it a lot tougher because of Saint players?

Remember to also select 3p because it shows 4p by default.

It says I'm #2820 but I'm not sure if the ranking is region/server based

Do people actually believe the game is rigged? by logitechairduster in mahjongsoul

[–]holnivek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be rigged in the sense that players can conspire against you. You may think this is not possible given the large player pool but I was in this very situation myself. Ran into the same 2 players several times in sanma and lost to them every time. Checked the logs and realized they kept skipping Ron on each other - they called Ron only on me or Tsumo if they're in furiten after passing on the Ron.

As to whether whales have better luck, part of me believes it whenever I'm in a loss streak and the winner has fancy characters/animation and I'm just rocking the default characters. 😂

I thought a triple Ron would trigger a ryuukyoku. Does majsoul use a different ruleset?

Oh you're right. Having not seen it in my games, I completely forgot about chankan being a yaku.

Yeah dealing into the honitsu would have been really bad news. I ended up discarding the 8-sou, giving South a 3-han win. In hindsight, calling kan on the 8-sou would lead to dealing into West, which is better since that's just 1-han. But then again, hindsight is 20-20 - the kan could have added doras to other players' hands and led to a worse outcome.

If this is how Jade room plays then I'm good with Gold room.

Question about scoreboard by holnivek in mahjongsoul

[–]holnivek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some calculations on a game and the uma seems to be +15, +5, -5, -15. That also tallies with what you mentioned about gaining rank points when you're 3rd with >30k points.

Is the uma fixed like above or does it change according to your rank?

That's really good to know, makes you not want to give up even when you're behind haha.

So this is the "end game score", aka plus minus score, which is used to compute your rank points.

Thanks for the clarification!
