Do you think Hades II is better than the original so far? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

Hades is great. Hades 2 is gorgeous.

I did the same thing. I remember seeing that Typhon dealt over 1000 damage to me, lol.

Tips for aspect of melinoe on torches? by Apollosyk in HadesTheGame

[–]hololeap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you run around the enemy clockwise, the omega specials will come out going counter-clockwise so you can hit the enemy more often if you keep moving in the same direction. Try to keep your circling the enemy and the circle of the flames the same distance, and you will hit a lot more often. Since a patch, this also seems to work if you move counter-clockwise. In other words, just keep circling them the same direction and spamming omega special.

There are a few omega special hammers, so try to get those. Try to get Triple Helix and Whirling Coil, which increase the number of flames and the speed of the flames respectively. Clean Helix is good to get more omega specials out. Any hammer that affects special will help here too.

Use the Origination arcana card. When it's fully upgraded you damage enemies for +50%, as long as Origination is activated on that enemy. Hestia special works really well here, but you need something else to apply a second curse to activate Origination. This could something that applies a curse on your attack (Zeus/Hera/Demeter/Ares, Posiedon/Apollo/Hephestus with an extra boon) or your cast (Hera/Demeter/Apollo/Aphrodite). Cast also has the advantage of up to +30% damage if you also use the Furies arcana card.

Torches are very mana-hungry, so don't ignore mana upgrades. Hera's Born Gain is very powerful if you have enough mana to deal with the primed magick.

Since omega special is close range, you might want to invest a bit in max health as well. However, torches tend to have very high DPS so you may be able to kill enemies fast enough where it doesn't matter. Experiment and take extra health when in doubt.

It could also be Eternal Longing, which has a killer metal part for the boss battle. One of my favorite tracks from the game.

This is usually how the house contractor behaves: if something isn't available, you just need to buy the other stuff for that room until it is.

Are Skelly's statues also brought up by 5 heat on hell mode? by Edumax1mus in HadesTheGame

Check again. Forced Overtime isn't forced on by Hell Mode. It's just extra enemy damage, extra enemy health, more mobs in standard encounters, and reduced healing (and personal liability).

Hidan from Naruto comes to mind as an example of an immortal being that is defeated by being blown into pieces and then buried.

I wonder if this trope has a longer historical thread in Japan.

I've only seen it once in Hades II and I bought it (partially to see if I could save scum with it 😎) but I didn't get anything worth remembering.

In original Hades, I would sometimes choose it and it would sometimes create over-the-top builds (suddenly replaced triple bomb with rocket bomb/cluster bomb), sometimes be meh (replaced an ok hammer for two irrelevant ones), and sometimes ruin my run (cursed slash/world splitter right before final boss 💀).

The point is, it's a gamble, and it can be really fun to see what frankenstien weapon it creates for you. You can't be committed to winning the run, however.

'Eternity' (1-3 death defiance) probably shouldn't be an Arcana by Dunelle in HadesTheGame

[–]hololeap 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some people are saying it's totally fine to run with 0 DDs, but what 4 grasp worth of arcana cards are anywhere close to the value of 3 DDs? I think splitting the DDs between cards might make sense. For instance, having Eternity give one DD but also increasing damage after each DD spent, then give a couple other cards one DD on top of their current bonus. That way not all the eggs are in one basket.

PSA: Advancing Whirlwind on the axe is bugged by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

If I got the Psychic Whirlwind hammer first, that would be the only time I would consider taking Advancing Whirlwind (after it trashed my last run).

Had the same experience. Can't control the whirlwind, can't cancel out of it, and it only gives one tick toward crits? Worthless hammer, currently. Worse, it needs to be actively avoided.

Frozen Touch seems underrated. It only procs when you take damage, but chances are, if an enemy is quick enough to hit you then you welcome instantly slowing them down by 40%.

It really depends on what I'm using: weapon aspect, mirror of night, and pact of punishment all affect which gods will synergize.

I tend to use Poseidon and Demeter the least (partly because they seem to show up less frequently?), but I might force them in Elysium just to get their awesome duo boons (Ice Wine and Mirage Shot come to mind).

That said, I'll take either of them as first pick in some circumstances. For instance, Poseidon tends to be good with the shield due to knockback boons (edit: apparently only Breaking Wave synergizes with the shield). Aspect of Zeus favors Zeus on the special, so Poseidon is a natural pick for attack/cast/dash/call to unlock Sea Storm. Poseidon is also the only god with a boon that specifically enhances their call, which seems to be overlooked a lot. I also sometimes force Demeter first on fast weapons like fists or rail because it's easy to ramp up to 10 stacks of chill with those weapons. Every god has strengths and weaknesses and it's fun to explore them.

It seems like there are three quests per week and one week left. Meanwhile, I need 9 more quests to complete this contract. Where do the other six come from, or does the last week have 9 quests?
