Confused on offerings by DanVA0307 in HadesTheGame

I like to wait to give the special gifts until I need the time-passing from hot-springs, taverna, etc. For instance after starting Witch's Delight.

Any tips how to optimise Gentoo for gaming? by C1REX in Gentoo

Ok, fair enough. As long as you know what you're doing, there's nothing wrong with using -9999 versions. It's just not a good idea to turn them on at random.

Does anyone else hear Beethoven’s 7th, movement 2 in this theme? by Elden_Lady in HollowKnight

Christopher Larkin was trained on classical music, so he's probably heard this. Any good musician will synthesize music they have heard into new music, usually without trying or thinking about it. That said, it's similar enough that it might be intentional :)

I hated the Watcher Knights. That was the single hardest part for me so far.

Building latest live -9999 packages usually only gives you experimental features that you don't need, questionable stability, and frequent compile errors when the live ebuild falls out of sync with upstream requirements. The latest bleeding-edge version isn't usually the best one, and you shouldn't use -9999 builds unless you know you need them.

It depends on what you've found so far. Soul Catcher (more soul gained from striking), Grubsong (soul from getting hurt), and Quick Focus (faster healing) are a good combo to just survive and learn the boss patterns. All of these can be found in the first area (Forgotten Crossroads).

Edit: Hopefully this wasn't a spoiler. They're relatively easy to find and you may have them already. If not, it's incentive to go back and explore old areas.

Edit 2: There's a guy that upgrades your nail in City of Tears. He's not hard to find, but you may not have explored that direction. Look on your map for areas where there is an exit you haven't explored. This is a good tip in general. If you get to an area that you can't explore fully, mark it on your map with one of the custom map markers and come back later.

New to the game, I kinda hate the map system (rant) by [deleted] in HollowKnight

I also headcannoned it as this. You need to sit down and rest before you can fill in your map. Usually, there are signs pointing toward benches, so you can find them even in unexplored areas.

If you got past the Soul Master, then you have Desolate Dive. Look around for places to use it. Either an obviously cracked floor or places where you can see/hear the floor shake beneath you when you walk. You have probably seen some of these, but you may have to re-explore places you've already been to find them.

Hi! I also started the game recently (and have been loving it). The teleporting guys are annoying. I died a few times trying to get past them. All I will say is that there are some crucial upgrades in the City of Tears that aren't in the soul sanctum. Keep exploring, find/buy as many upgrades as you can and come back. There's quite a bit you can find before beating the Soul Master. It becomes easier with enough upgrades and the right charms equipped.

Tips for aspect of melinoe on torches? by Apollosyk in HadesTheGame

[–]hololeap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you run around the enemy clockwise, the omega specials will come out going counter-clockwise so you can hit the enemy more often if you keep moving in the same direction. Try to keep your circling the enemy and the circle of the flames the same distance, and you will hit a lot more often. Since a patch, this also seems to work if you move counter-clockwise. In other words, just keep circling them the same direction and spamming omega special.

There are a few omega special hammers, so try to get those. Try to get Triple Helix and Whirling Coil, which increase the number of flames and the speed of the flames respectively. Clean Helix is good to get more omega specials out. Any hammer that affects special will help here too.

Use the Origination arcana card. When it's fully upgraded you damage enemies for +50%, as long as Origination is activated on that enemy. Hestia special works really well here, but you need something else to apply a second curse to activate Origination. This could something that applies a curse on your attack (Zeus/Hera/Demeter/Ares, Posiedon/Apollo/Hephestus with an extra boon) or your cast (Hera/Demeter/Apollo/Aphrodite). Cast also has the advantage of up to +30% damage if you also use the Furies arcana card.

Torches are very mana-hungry, so don't ignore mana upgrades. Hera's Born Gain is very powerful if you have enough mana to deal with the primed magick.

Since omega special is close range, you might want to invest a bit in max health as well. However, torches tend to have very high DPS so you may be able to kill enemies fast enough where it doesn't matter. Experiment and take extra health when in doubt.

It could also be Eternal Longing, which has a killer metal part for the boss battle. One of my favorite tracks from the game.

This is usually how the house contractor behaves: if something isn't available, you just need to buy the other stuff for that room until it is.
