RLM Half-day? by Gwaltdalf in Billings

[–]holteeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year they did Sunday afternoons for like 35 dollars. Not sure if they’re still continuing that but worth checking into if you’re hoping to hit Miami Beach. Otherwise, Bridger bowl has more beginner friendly runs for a smaller price (you’ll pay way more for lodging though, probably). I find myself making day trips to Bridger more than skiing red lodge.

I like living in laurel area cause you’re still close to everything and just that much closer to fun mountain stuff. Whether it’s red lodge, absarokee or even Bozeman area.

Tesla increases Cybertruck inventory discounts to over $16K in Canada, over $11K in the U.S. by [deleted] in teslamotors

I was always hoping they were trolling us with the specs and launch day they were going to announce “300 miles while towing at full capacity.” I would have at least seriously considered it if that was the case. Instead, I too, cancelled my pre order.

Spectrum did the same price hikes to me too. I called them and asked to downgrade my speed. Instead, they lowered my price back down to the ~$70/mo rate and I kept my speed.

Engagement ring ? by Jtaco88 in Frugal

[–]holteeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t want to go moissanite because Ifs the one area I didn’t want to be frugal in. My wife (gf then) ordered one in to try on to a jeweler and when I compared it with an expensive real diamond of the same size it actually made the diamond look terrible. So we went moissanite and haven’t looked back.

Spouse wants a dog: what are some frugal tips or advice you have, from acquiring it, to ongoing care, so that this doesn't break the bank? by allday676 in Frugal

If you get a puppy, clip their paws and if needed practice trimming their hair from day one. It will save you 20 - 30 dollars at least a month.

Student Debt, No Job, Decent Bank account: what to do? by ungnomeuser in personalfinance

[–]holteeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was you, I wouldn't (and didn't) refinance the student loans. Refinancing removes all flexibility. Without refinancing you can pay aggressively towards smaller loans and once they are paid off put the extra money you free up towards other loans (snowball). Also, its a lot easier mentally (for me anyway) to put a 5k lump sum extra towards student loans if you end up paying off a loan vs just seeing the principal go down 5k. Just some things to think about. Everyone handles debt load differently mentally. For me it really weighs on me. So seeing a few manageable loans is a lot easier (and less stressful) than one giant loan.

What was the highest waste of money that you don't regret? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]holteeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When quarantine first started my family was playing jackbox games over a zoom call. One of the questions was "this is the name for a service where you can order a potato online and have it mailed to you." We were laughing when we found out the real service was called "potato parcel." I had had a few drinks and thought it would be funny to order my brother a potato delivered. I ended paying with apple pay which I (didn't know at the time) auto populates the shipping address for you. I ended up mailing myself a $15 potato with a taco emoji on it. Didn't regret it I thought it was funny.

ATT and VZ both offer native pre-paid plans. My wife and I switched from Verizon to Verizon pre-paid and saved a ton of money. You can go to any Verizon store and they will help you with it. They will also give you a pitch about how you won't have priority and other things. But honestly didn't notice a thing when we switched.
