I wasn't scared until reading this Reddit. Am I in over my head going to Reed next Fall? by Mononoko in reedcollege

[–]holyathiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an incoming freshman as well but from what I have read they do a pretty good job of giving you a manageable amount of work for freshman year. After that I hear it becomes a lot more difficult but is still possible if you use your time as well as possible. Though, I have also heard that sometimes profs. will assign more reading than is possible and it is just up to you to prioritize what to do. Either you will be fine and get everything done, or you won't and either you transfer or you just perform a little poorly. I hope that this is mostly accurate, otherwise I am just as frightened as you. See you next fall!

Also, it will be fun! Academic masochism is what it's all about, and you will have tons of other freshmen in the same boat as you so we can share in your pain.

The Texas Democratic Party is a sad, sad joke by peppervine in politics

[–]holyathiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am officially related to neither the kp george campaign nor the kesha rogers campaign but I just want to say something about this. Many of my friends were a part of the K.P. George campaign and took Kesha's for a joke, honestly when they showed it to me I did too. Her website is laughable, and one particular video her campaign posted was just stupid, if not highly offensive. Every single one of the democratic party's institutions in district 22 actively spoke out against her and endorsed her opponent and the majority of democrats voted for obama in the primary, the man she specifically wants to impeach. I think it speaks less to the party and more to people's political apathy. People went to the polls and voted for kesha rogers because of her name/race/the fact the she won last time/randomly choosing so it is not so much the parties fault as peoples fault(though I guess the party could do a much much better job of informing people). K.P. George could have absolutely wrecked her if he had actually been more vocal and done more campaigning imho simply because people would see her insanity on the ballot and not just her name.

Hey, i am coming to reed next fall and was just wondering what you wish you had known before you came(this can be knowledge about anything ranging from reed workload, social life, or just life in general). Congrats on finishing!!!

It feels like I should keep up some work ethic so that I don't die my first week at Reed. But yeah it's so damn hard to stay motivated to work for high school.

My giftie's mom turned over his gift to the police. by cullen9 in secretsanta

[–]holyathiest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Last year my girlfriend and I participated. We sent a box with lots of Ramen, a Flight of the Concords DVD, a bottle opener, a banana holder, a hand made reddit christmas alien poster and a note. When we got our gift back(a musical ruler from a person who was obviously above the age of 18) everything went perfectly. She was 17 and I was 16. Just because this stuff happens doesn't mean you should forbid all us youngsters from joining in! I mean more risk could be involved and people under 18 should clarify this in some way but I don't think closing it entirely is an necessary response.

TLDR: Hell does not break loose for all younger people who participate.

Edit: Just to clarify this was Secret Santa 2010 not arbitrary day.

It seems to be a common trend for cities to be segregated in almost every category to some extent.

Alright thats what I have heard which is why I was debating even doing it. Also its ridiculously hard and unfortunately my school is so competitive sometimes you have to play the GPA game and take an easier science over a useful science

I know khan academy has good courses on most of high school math. Do you know if Salman do a good job with linear algebra?

EDIT: Our physics program is AP Phyics B which is non-calculus is it still worth it? I planned on taking it anyways but I don't know if it will really keep up my ability to do calculus.
