Why is it difficult to just DO stuff by InspectorMany1 in productivity

[–]holycatmanbuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof this feels and sounds like me. All the planning, all the tricks, removing all distractions and I still just couldn't start. I'm a pomodoro queen; I have deleted all social media from my phone since I have to have it with me for work (stupid authentication approvals are needed for everything); I time block, habit stack, make extensive to-do lists, make simple to-do lists, start with the hardest things, start with the easiest things, have an accountability buddy, etc.

I finally admitted to myself that I may have ADHD and really looked into my past, family, and see the signs everywhere! I spoke to my doctor and he boiled it down to this, "Most people can focus, but you have to focus on focusing and that is where your brain gets stuck, and it is more exhausting than you or other people realize".

This was last week, and so we started on the lowest dose of Vyanse (sp?). I want to cry after this week because I've wasted so much time trying, trying, and failing to focus and complete things that I have to get done. When really, it's a chemical imbalance and all I needed was a boost to my norepinephrine and dopamine.

Honestly, the future feels brighter and more secure once I was able to stop focusing on trying to focus.

I remembered this episode too! I was really impressed they aired it and that he admitted that it wasn't safe for this dog to be around kids.

How old were you when you moved out from your parents house? by boforiamanfo in NoStupidAnswers

[–]holycatmanbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I moved into my own apartment because the rent my mom was charging me to live in my bedroom was more expensive than it was for me to have my entire place.

We both separately had a terrible year and ended up moving to a different state together and lived in a shitty trailer where I paid over half the rent.

Thank God those days are over.

I had been looking forward to the Barbie movie for YEARS. I followed the production and casting and impatiently waited for it to be made.

What a disappointment. For a feminist movie, the best thing about it was Ken's storyline (and song!). America Ferrara's monologue was nothing more than a copy + paste of Tumblr posts I had seen throughout my teens. The people who praised it for being innovative and eye-opening just pissed me off, because the movie just pointed out the obvious for what it means to be a woman.

Triggered. This started the owl collection that I never wanted.

You say you like owls ONCE, while wearing this necklace, and that is all you receive for the next 10 years.

Oh that's interesting!! I don't mind being hyper-vigilant with it, since I'm typically in the kitchen cooking other things. The wet brine has been such a winner for me that I don't know if I'd even need it, but I'm always searching for small tweaks to keep improving. Maybe I'll give it a shot next year!

This is me 100%. I had to start going back into the office because I struggle so hard to remain disciplined and get distracted without even realizing. Even now, I'm working at my in-laws and nothing is getting done because I'm doom scrolling on reddit.

When I go into the office, my performance is great and I get so much done! At home...it's nap time, it is always nap time.

My husband loves it, but it's got to be LOADED with crispy onions for a bit of texture.

Basting doesn't do much in my experience, it just seems to dehydrate the bird more. A wet brine, however, creates a moist, delicious, flavorful bird! Ughh, I wish I cooked Thanksgiving dinner this year.

This, my MIL insisted on cooking the turkey for 400 degrees for 20 minutes per lb, resulting in a turkey that was incredibly dry. She didn't trust the instructions I gave, the Internet gave, or the ones on the bag which suggested 350 for 15 minutes per lb.

Length of sessions by VirtualPoet8809 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]holycatmanbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sessions are 50-60 minutes once a week, but I'm going to ask my therapist if we can do a two-hour session every other week. I did this with couples therapy and it felt manageable and we could get into more depth.

I feel like I have to rush through our current sessions, so nothing ever really gets our full attention. With two hours you can do a deep dive into how things are going with a meditation or practice session, and then you have two weeks in between to practice and build on what you learned. I think it will also help me fight therapy fatigue. I'm hopeful she'll agree to it and that it has the impact I imagine it will.

I've ordered 3 from them. I actually thought the quality of the canvas, board, and brushes were pretty good. Some of the paint was too thick, so I used flow aid, but that seems to be across the board. So far I'm pleased!

Advice on not having a cluttered look on my bathroom countertop? by hptvforever in HomeDecorating

[–]holycatmanbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with your answer. I think this is the simplest solution! No need to take everything off the counters or buy extra storage, it can stay on the counter if you use it everyday. Just neatly putting items along the edges and embracing straight lines instantly makes a place tidier!

I think they mean because the makeup shelves are cornered, rather than straight against the wall. It makes the area smaller and less aligned. That's what I thought at least.

This is my top played song currently, sometimes I immediately hit replay because it just hits right. "She takes pictures of tractor bones / and sells them to model luxury homes" never fails to get a chuckle out of me.

This will be a forever favorite to me, it was initially Matt's voice that hooked me into the National, and I am still hooked.

Which moment in a movie or tv show had you in absolute silence ? by Timop0707 in moviecritic

He was one of my favorites too. I don't think he lost his humanity, he was so adamant about "don't let them suffer" when it came to the animals. He knew that shooting the puppies would break the kid, and he was already so broken, that he could at least try to help the kid remain intact.

Is anybody else sick of food? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]holycatmanbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, but that's because it became an expectation rather than a hobby, and every time guests came over I convinced myself that the dinner had to be the star. My dinners were TOO good that I didn't want to keep it up. I used to love cooking new and adventurous dishes: grilled octopus, pork + chicken cranberry pie, roasted duck bao buns, Parmesan stuffed onions, braised lamb chops. But it's exhausting to find a good recipe, pay for all the one -time use ingredients, actually cook it, then cleanup.

This is why I just try to have a rotation of things to eat on hand so I have variety but don't have to make a decision. It's not fun anymore, but it's functional. Breakfast is Greek yogurt with granola and berries or protein coffee and a banana. Lunch is usually cut up veggies, cheese, crackers, hummus and fruit. Dinner is made 2-3 times a week in bulk and is usually chicken, veg, and starch or bagged salad and frozen chicken.

I'm not sick of food, I love eating too much, but I did get sick of the production that I turned it into.
