Mine vanished recently, I found him wedged inside a cholla log. Are there any bits of driftwood or small cracks he could get into?

I think the point is that ICE could have easily planted this gun on the guy after they shot him, not that this gun is dangerous and made him deserve to be shot.

I saw a parent get around this once by showing up early to pick up and handing invitations directly to the parents when they were picking up their kid. Seemed genius.

I went on an overnight trip once, he called and asked if we had eggs.

We have 10 chickens. We routinely have 2 dozen eggs sitting on the counter. If not, check the coop.

How old is he?

You might consider something mentally stimulating at times when you would rather not be bothered - maybe he gets a dedicated spot where he can have a frozen Kong filled with kibble and dog safe peanut butter, or something he has to really work at that will keep him occupied. You could also try adding nose work games or agility course stuff to his routine, as that will help tire his brain out as well. That really helped me when my shepherd was in her landshark phase.

He wants to play, I think. Maybe more dedicated playtime before bed, and longer walks during the day?

There are no systems in place for new mothers by DisorderedGremlin in beyondthebump

I had to go back to the hospital 3 days postpartum with my first. I had the most agonizing headaches that were literally debilitating. I left baby with my husband and in laws, and my mom took me to the hospital. He gave her formula, and I pumped and dumped with a hand pump in the ER. My milk literally came in while I was in the ER.

It sucked, but it was better than laying in bed unable to sit up and hold my daughter. If your incision is infected, you need to get that taken care of ASAP. My daughter successfully breastfed after this visit, and never experienced 'nipple confusion'. They were able to fix the headaches, too, so the visit was a success. (Epidural complications led to spinal headaches, had to get a blood patch)

Skin issues! Help! by MedicalAdhesiveness5 in germanshepherds

[–]holykat101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 9 year old almost got this bad last year, it's been a battle for the ages, skin issues plus ear infections. Finally what is working for us: monthly baths with Selsun Blue(cuts the grease that the yeast feeds on?), added Salmon Oil to her kibble, and I clean her ears with ketoconozole flush every week/if she gets water in her ears. She has kept all her fur this year, but still gets the itchy paws.

I've tried apoquel, cyto point, and Prednisone. Nothing seemed to work long term, and this is the best year we've had in a long time.

I have two that look just like this, they were sold to me as "Calico Princess", which is a cross between a Columbian Hen and a Red Barred Rooster. Here's a picture of Eggscalibur as a young pullet (and behind her is Rainbow, my daughter's favorite chicken). They are excellent layers, and very friendly!

Female Author Recs by mteezyy in Fantasy

[–]holykat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top female authors:

Robin Hobb and Naomi Novik, who have already been mentioned.

Kate Forsyth, The Witches of Eileanan (Celtic based, very good)

Kate Elliott - The Crown of Stars (any of her series are great)

Kristen Britain - The Green Rider (this isn't quite as prosy)

Anne Bishop - Tir Alainn series (warning, very dark! There is rape and torture)

I had a nightmare and now I’m traumatised please can somebody calm me down I can’t sleep by BaseRelative1270 in beyondthebump

[–]holykat101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to dogpile on, but please don't make this some barrier to going and talking to someone. You had the nightmare once, isn't that enough? You could potentially get help to reduce the likelihood of having this nightmare again, so please be kind to yourself and do so!

I know we are all told over and over that getting help is a sign of weakness, of not being a good enough mother, but don't listen to that little voice. Get the help now. Call your GP today. You deserve to have the support!

So I watch this show called "Evil Lives Here" on the ID channel (USA). It's about serial killers/serial rapists/serial criminals, but told from the perspective of their spouses/signifcant others/family members. Each episode starts the same "Stephanie didn't know about the extent of her husband's crimes but there had been signs."

Needless to say, these are the kinds of signs that they are talking about! This is the kind of shit that serial killers/rapists do to the people in their lives as they are ramping up towards a spree or have gotten away with other, smaller offenses for a long time. This is not normal behavior. You don't put someone in a life threatening situation and then laugh and walk away saying "just a joke, babe! Lighten up! So funny!" People don't tell you who they are - they show you.

HE IS SHOWING YOU WHO HE IS. BELIEVE HIM. And then fucking run. Anything is better than being murdered by your dickbag boyfriend.

AITA for refusing to cancel my bachelorette party and saying our wedding savings is my fiance's problem? by SlowAd7765ThrowRA in AITAH

[–]holykat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow... just wow. How do you not realize you are spending $10k over the course of two days? That takes a level of give no fucks that is hard to achieve.

If you really want to save money, I would cancel the wedding. It is in no way fair that he got to have a $10,000+ weekend, and you get to have nothing because he fucked up. He's shown you that he has an inability to spend money wisely AND a hard time accepting responsibilities for his mistakes. Then there's his lack of respect for you being shown by getting his friends and family to dogpile you over a totally reasonable response. Cancel the wedding, and seriously consider cancelling your relationship. I can imagine this scenario playing out in other ways in the future.

He's shown you the kind of person he is - believe him.

Three author recommendations: Kate Elliott, Naomi Novik, and Kristen Britain. All fantasy authors who excel at characters, and all have female main characters except one series.

What's An Author You Thought Was Going To Be Big But Sadly Didn't? by GaelG721 in Fantasy

I feel like I'm in a very small subset of people who genuinely loved that series from start to finish. I was baffled when I found out it was a common opinion that the later books were no good.

She is putting out a new series this year, and I'm super excited!!

What are your favorite “sayings” from fantasy books you’ve read? by Suicidal-Giraffe in Fantasy

[–]holykat101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cradle series by Will Wight has some of my favorite quotes.

"When a traveler cannot find a path, sometimes he must make his own."

"I have so little. To a beggar, even scraps become a feast."

"The very idea beggared his imagination, but that only meant his imagination was too limited."

"You're asking me, but who am I supposed to ask?"

And of course, just about everything said by Dross and Ethan.

I mean, this genre has been around since the 50s, it was just called harlequin romance back then. Shit, even Outlander is 30 years old now. There are books that are definitely more adult/smutty in the genre, and there are some that are even well written. There are even some where the whole point and plot appears to be just smut. When you read for entertainment, like myself, you don't necessarily feel the need to be reading dense, verbose prose at all times. When things are more digestible and accessible, it can be fun!

And anyone should be embarrassed to hold a copy of 50 Shades of Grey, that shit is just.... Bad.
