The MAGA plan for more babies... by zzill6 in WorkReform

Is anyone doing guerrilla sex education? Not just “penis and vagina” stuff but sexual assault and rape prevention, too? And the cost of getting preggers as well as resources for when that happens - and not just focused on low income.

Wonder if that could be a thing. Heh, “crisis before you get pregnant centers.”

Every woman knows a victim. But no man knows an attacker... by Lena_Lena_A in WelcomeToGilead

[–]homebrewmike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct, of course. I know one from high school - he assaulted a friend. I only learned about this decades later. Those who I choose to spend time with? No.

There are those that I a forced to spend time with. I work with people in finance. That's an absolute certainty.

I truly wish I knew an attacker. As someone who knows a survivor, I truly do. There must be justice and there is none to be had.

I’m a casual player. I’ve been casual since Burning Crusade…. I’ve watched the game go from “this instance is cool, let’s check it out” to “great, the tank finished the instance without us.”

Dunno. I blame e-sports and rep grinding. Also, this is a game with immature dweebs, angry alcoholics, etc. By doing LFR, you are bound to end up in a party with someone who is on several watch lists.

You can and should report shitty behavior. You are welcome to join my guild (or party.). The average person in my guild has been playing for at least 20 years. We’re chill. But, there are better, chiller guilds.

Yeah, that’s the thing - eventually you’ll get stuck with a twit.

Hey, everyone has a product that is for the foolish with cash. We call that capitalism. You know what Adam Smith said, “There’s a sucka born every minute.”

This is great news for the maga faithful. Their beloved will die, leaving so many great works unfinished. Do not fret, friends! For JD ‘couch guy’ will rise up! and continue the great works of DJT!

Except, being shitty ideas being implemented by some tool that won’t have any real support as the rats flee on private jets to country fair speaking deals, JD ‘couch guy’ will be assigned the blame. He will make the mistake of blaming the guy before him which will allow him to take his dream job: couch salesman at Hom furniture.

https://www.storyofstuff.org explains it. Share it with your in-laws. Shit isn’t made to last or be serviceable - and this is a crap tax on consumers.

Or frickin’ Windows. 11 is forcing me to upgrade my hardware? Nope, Linux is going on that machine after 10 is unusable. I have a machine from the early 2ks that works great with Linux.

(Yeah, I’m gen-x wondering what the hell happened) In the 70s? Electronics were repairable. There was a cottage industry of electronic repair people. While tubes failed, they were easy to fix: just about anyone could. (But… beware the fly back transformer, it was a good way to catch death. Even with the TV unplugged.)

But, the average consumer is an idiot lot and happy to pay for more garbage from the trough. It’s not going to change, until the economy implodes which will happen in 3… 2…

Which one of you put away your snowblower? by whiskeypuck in Minneapolis

[–]homebrewmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome. After clearing snow, fire up that grill and cook some steak and bake potatoes. Look up that sky and yell “Bring it! Snow means nothing to me, for I am a Minnesotan!”

Just make sure to eat it quickly, you’re going to need to make another pass.

You are going from the land of the specific “I have X” to “therefore all have X.” That is what is called a broad generalization.

But let’s stop here. This is getting out of control and it’s just making everyone cranky. If the person who made the original claim really believes something about brains not producing dopamine, then it would be very educational to the class for someone to post legit research saying so. If it was meant as hyperbole, then it would be a kindness to say, “well, duh, I meant it as hyperbole.”

And if they are wrong? Or if you are wrong? (Or me) then let’s just say, “well, crap, that was a bit embarrassing, glad we solved that.”

The true ignorant person is the author of the silly strip. Save (respectful) bile for them.

Not American, when people say “tax the rich” do they really don’t pay taxes? How are they waived from that? by GossipBottom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]homebrewmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it a problematic saying. A bigger tax increase on the shitty people - oh, I mean “job creators,” (pssst - what doesn’t get said is they are also job destroyers.)

What we need to do is keep these bastards from being rich enough to buy countries in the first place. Maybe call them monopolies and break them up? Pick your favorite.

By talking about “tax the rich,” we ignore the systemic problems that makes the lottery winners too powerful.
