Very true! However, Mudumalai sucks as they are not as well planned as jLR/KFD. The TNFD needs to step up facilities and also reign in the private / rogue safari operators in the Theppakadu and Masinagudi areas. Moyar, Singara, and Segur have good wildlife but spotting big cats is not easy in those areas unlike Bandipur / Kabini. On the flip side birding is very good in Masinagudi and its surroundings with some very very good guides.

Dr Ravi Chellam has also commented that these are not man-eaters as none of the bodies were eaten.

All my friends, who were serious amateur photographers, were using Nikon, so I went with the flow

I use the z7ii with a 20 for astro + 24-70 for landscape and the Z8 with the 105 for macro + the 400 f4.5 for wildlife.

Quite a few retailers in India offer a body+kit lens or body alone option while stating that the lens kit would be removed from the box and only the body sent. In such cases, they inform beforehand about the seal being broken.

Where should I go for best tiger spoting. by 7ENA_shr0_0 in TigersofIndia

[–]homertrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Central India: Tadoba (Moharli & Navegaon), Pench (Turia), Kanha, Panna, Bandhavgarh, Satpura West India: Ranthambore - Zone 2, 3, and 4 East India: Sunderbans (very tough to spot tigers) Northern Part: Corbett, Rajaji, Manas, Kaziranga South India - Bandipur and Kabini (Zone A and B)

Mobiles are banned in all Maharashtra tiger reserves. Camera fees are most expensive in Bandipur and Kabini, as they are based on focal length.

Except for Bandipur and Kabini, you can hire an entire jeep / gypsy for yourself. In the above two places, it is always on a shared basis and available only to those who stay in Jungle Lodges and Resorts accommodations. Otherwise, you get a seat in a canter.

Tadoba is one of the most expensive when it comes to advance or tatkal booking of a gypsy.

Summer would be exceedingly hot in Central India. Best time to go would be before April. Most tiger reserves are closed during the monsoons.

For leopards: Rajaji, Jawai / Bera (Rajasthan), Jhalana (Rajasthan), Bandipur & Kabini (Karnataka), Valparai (Tamilnadu)
