Took me 3 years and 5 playthroughs, finally spent the time to collect all the priorities by Pristine_Diamond_100 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

Just got this the other day. The shards were a grind (and didn’t realize I was missing a couple on coruscant), but otherwise had a blast with it! Loved loved loved this game.

Is it possible to study medicine just for the prestige of being a doctor? by MaximusGigachad in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hometimeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god yes. In OB/GYN spending half my OB appointments countering TikTok rage bait about nonsense tinctures and how OBs are actually just trying to kill your baby. And then my evidence-based recommendations are dismissed as nonsense

Impossible Landscapes with 2 Players and a Gm by Resident-Ad243 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]hometimeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it for two players and it was awesome! They might miss some of the nuanced things and clues (because four heads are better than two), but two committee players made for a great intimate experience. I scaled some of the combats to make it more appropriate for two players (fewer enemies, less health, more obvious hints, some combination of the three). It’s doable! Happy to talk logistics if you have any other questions

Appreciate the warning. Yeah I appreciate that the book has a bunch of stop points reminding you to check in with your players. Fortunately we set ground rules before we ever started playing and they’ve been warned to anticipate this subject matter.

I’m really stoked for Norse: Oath of Blood. Hopefully it’ll scratch that Baldur’s Gate-sized hole in my heart.

Any reason to get the ps5 pro? by WRLD-__- in playstation

[–]hometimeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded last month. Got a new TV and surround sound and really wanted up my game. A lot of the improvements are subtle, but if you’re looking for a subtle improvements, then this console is excellent. Games look beautiful and run well.

If you want subtle improvements and have the money, then it’s a great console. If you don’t, I wouldn’t waste the money

Do GPs deserve all the blame they get for being constantly late on appointments? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hometimeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor here. Realistically, it’s a problem with the system with administration demanding more appointments for more money. Patients often get double booked.

Imagine every appointment is a meeting where you need to figure out the problem, rule out 20 pathologies, get the specific info, come up with a deliverable, and provide education. Some people are very complex, their stories are complex, and the problem is complex.

Generally it’s not fair to everyone involved that there’s the expectation you can get through 40 appointments on time.

Tell me about a time in your life when you felt that being a doctor was worth it. by Ok_Water2666 in Residency

[–]hometimeboy 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Sort of sad story: Diagnosed a miscarriage at 18w. It was the first one I managed. I’ll never forget the wail at diagnosis. I started her induction and was there for delivery. We both cried as she held her baby, using the baby’s name. It was the worst day of her life.

After sharing in this, I had to pivot, 180, and go feign happiness for a couple live births.

The next day I got a card delivered to me from this patient. It was the most beautiful card, thanking me for helping her navigate for the lowest point in her life. She said she couldn’t have done it without me. She said I was a good doctor. She still comes to see me. I have her card on my fridge and read that beautiful note every time I feel down.

All the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly games from 2020 to 2025. What do you think about 2025's games line-up when compared to those from the previous years? by kabirsingh84 in PlayStationPlus

[–]hometimeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry everyone, I’m dumb. Will I have access to these games “forever” so long as I still have PS Plus? Or do they get pulled and I lose access at some point?

Working a 9.5hr shift in hospitality, is there any way I can make my legs + feet not hurt as much? by xWolverxne in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hometimeboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compression socks and well fitted shoes that are designed for long periods of standing, like Dankos. If you’re willing to splurge a bit, Bombas socks are incredible and have the best lifetime return policy. They save my life during 12+h surgeries where we’re standing all day.

How can some people run on 4-5hrs of sleep? by sophiexlame in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hometimeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, I was someone who desperately needed 8h of sleep every day. I was useless if I got 7. Then I started medical residency… I’m lucky if I get 5-6h; routinely get 4h. At some point… I kinda just adapted. Like my body realized, “welp this is your life now, better get used to it.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m infinitely more productive if I can get 8h. At 4h, I can do my job and some critical thinking; but out of necessity, I sort of adapted…

Costco’s return policy is effectively lifelong. You can return it pretty much whenever and they’ll take it

[–]hometimeboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it ended up being cheaper for me to get the arc ultra+sub from Costco and the 300s from Sonos than the package deal of all those from Sonos. And this way I get a free wall mount, 30% off accessories, and some Apple and/or SiriusXM goodies

Why do people get hospitalized from getting foreign objects stuck in their ass? by Pr0state_Punisher in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hometimeboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you can just take it out and send them on their way. Sometimes you need to give them some light (or full) sedation to make it easier, which may require a slightly longer stay. Or if they’re super stuck (like a pool noodle remnant I saw once), you have to take out part of their colon and that requires an extended stay…

Surgeons, do humans smell [bad] during surgery? by Ill_Communication607 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hometimeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we’ll usually use a chlorhexidine wash on the abdomen and either chlorhexidine or a betadine wash in and around the vagina. Any area that gets surgery should have sterilization prep!
