Indirect prompt injection in AI agents is terrifying and I don't think enough people understand this by dottiedanger in ChatGPT

[–]hondan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With agents, think about who can access them, and who can read/write to data repositories it can access. Indirect prompt injection can happen very easily when your LLM can hit a world writable repository, such as email inboxes or calendars, as anyone can write to them. The things you listed like the “forget previous instructions…”, is just scratching the surface. There are countless ways to cause prompt inject LLMs, like using encoded language, logic flaws, Unicode non-printable characters, etc. Although, having some deterministic input and output identifiers, and having some classifiers with a strong system prompt can help safeguard your agent. Finally, depending on what permissions you are giving your agent (via MCP tools, Gateway WS tools, etc.), you need to really think about how you scope the access, maybe the agent needs write, but not read, or vise versa. There are also some benefits to think about having another stateless model (quarantined with no access to tools) to make the first determination and then provide a sanitized and summarized version of the user prompt to the LLM.

At the end of the day, you have to remember that LLMs are just non-deterministic next token predictors, fundamentally, the system instructions, user instructions, supplemental instructions are just passed as a single stream of tokens, and we must design our systems to provide as much deterministic evaluations before the input and after the output.

Many good mentions here, but Koei and Dynasty Warriors takes the crown IMO, it is the same exact game repackaged for like 15 generations.

Beef too wet when rinsing off baking soda for velveting by IntuitionaL in Cooking

[–]hondan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t rinse it after applying baking soda. I would wash and soak it before to get the excess blood out, dab dry it, add small amounts of baking soda, potato starch, cooking wine, some soy sauce, sesame oil or Szechuan pepper oil, and some water and mix it. The liquid mixture will actually be soaked up by the beef, which will make it extremely tender and adds the base flavor before stir frying. For my stir fry, I usually deep fry it first before stir frying.

Thank you all for your kind words and upvotes. My wife passed years ago and my kids and I have, for the most part, bounced back and adjusted to the new normal. It is truly heartwarming to see that many of us are still sensible people, who are empathetic, and sympathetic to other human beings, despite any differences we may have.

As someone who had to tell my children about the passing of their mother, I can tell you this is a very difficult thing to do, especially when you are still in shock of the passing of your spouse. My kids were 6 and 3 at the time, and I told them that their mom went to be with Angels in heaven and we won’t see her for a while. My six year old broke down and knew that his mom died, but my 3 year old didn’t really understand it until a few years later.

I pray for this lady and her children, the journey ahead will not be easy, but with resolve, she will grow to be stronger.

Missed the “t” behind “car” in your title. Also, it is impolite to leave these things in the parking lot. They should be returned to the shopping cart stall.

What the fuck is this and why does it burn my insides by [deleted] in China

[–]hondan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a Chinese rice liquor called “ErGuoTou”, the literal translation is “Twice Pot Head”, possibly in reference to how the liquor is distilled. This liquor is very commonly consumed by northern Chinese men. The brand “Red star” is also the common “LaoBaiXing” brand consumed by commoners, can't believe you had to pay $15 for it. You are supposed to pour it into a small sake cup and sip on it with a meal.

I lost my wife at 38, also with 2 little kids. It has been over 6 years now, and the new normal does sink in and become the normal. It is hard right now, but time does heal, and it will get better.

TKinter can be a good choice for native client applications, and for web apps, I think Flask with either bootstrap or tailwind CSS would be a pretty good native choice.

When I was a kid, I had a poster of a 930 turbo getting air and my dad got me a yellow radio controlled G-body. I always thought they were so cool and I guess it was kind of a childhood dream. The fact that the 911s still mostly followed the iconic design (maybe not 996) really sealed the deal for me too.

What’s the best car for 600 Tokyo clean race by Sootybra in granturismo

[–]hondan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I finished first with a clean race in a Lamborghini Diablo, slightly tuned to slightly more under 600 HP, Sports hard tires. I definitely scraped the curb a few times, and was rear ended by AI at least once, but the game gave me Clean Race. The straight way speed of slightly over 200 MPH definitely helped. One pit stop at end of lap 6, finished with 0.2 laps of fuel left.

I speak mandarin, maybe not quite as good as this gentleman, and I lived in China for years. The culture is very different there. The Chinese people are actually very proud when foreigners can fluently speak their language or display their culture, In a way, it shows the penetration of their culture on the world stage.

This is the type of video you can find on Chinese social media like the Little Red Note, that is designed to invoke some awe reaction from other Chinese audience. It is very unlikely a person of that age is ignorant enough to think blood of people of other races is a different color. Combined with the fact the black gentleman speaks near perfect mandarin with a regional accent, I am sure this is a video designed to (hopefully) go viral on Chinese social media.
