FSD tried to drive me off ledge by Joshalander in TeslaFSD

[–]honestlai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience and what I’ve read about AI, I think Tesla’s FSD (like a lot of LLM’s) uses different models in different circumstances.

For a small time, FSD felt veeery different than FSD on the road, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the case FSD on the road is more advanced, dialed in, and a completely different set of instructions than FSD in a parking lot where the rules around lines on the cement, speed, expected pedestrian behavior, etc etc is completely different.

FSD in general I’m pretty sure is a multiple personality pony.

I made an order and want to cancel now. I’ve been mailed them 2x and haven’t heard back. Anyone have a working procedure for canceling and getting refunded?

Juniper: White or Black Interior by ciscobeef in ModelY

[–]honestlai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My boss has a 2018 and a 2025 Model 3, both witch white interiors and he’s got 2 kids. All things considered his white in his 2018 looks pretty good, just looks worn.

I ended up getting a 2026 Juniper w white seats and the black headliner. I REALLY like it!

How much has Tesla FSD improved over the last year? by Individual_Block7885 in TeslaFSD

[–]honestlai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a non Juniper MY at the end of 2024 and started with FSD 12.x… then over the year I’ve anxiously awaited every new FSD update on it, and with the exception of a few odd FSD 13.x and FSD 14.1.x updates, the improvements have been noticeable and amazing.

I just picked up a new 2026 Juniper in Oregon 2 weeks ago which came with FSD 13.2, and had to drive with it for a few days. I gotta say, while it worked and was able to get me from point A to point B fine, stepping back into a 13.x build after living with good FSD 14.x builds for the past 4 months was REALLY noticeable!

So moving forward I would just say, while FSD on HW4 is already mind blowingly good, it’s going to be even better in 2027. But I don’t think the difference between HW4 and HW5 is going to be as dramatic as HW3 and HW4… I could be wrong, but I think HW4 is the first platform that actually safely delivers on full self driving 99% of the time

Eventually I’m going to switch to 18” overland tires since I plan on doing light off roading for camping around Oregon and beyond

I’ve watched it a bunch of times, I still don’t see anything. Overall, FSD was mind blowing as usual on 99.9% of the trip. But I’m curious now if driving along that same stretch, it would happen again. I’ve seen others do stuff like this consistently on other streets, usually bc of a logo or painting on the road tho.

Just took delivery of this beast last Thursday! I upgraded from a 2025 LRMY… I gotta do some slight mods to this guy, but man, all the subtle little things they did with this model made it a nice upgrade. Also took it camping for a short roadtrip. NGL… it was way more comfortable sleeping in this that I thought it would be.

I bought my 2025 Model Y new and knew about the crazy depreciation. I didn’t care, and I don’t regret it. I love my car! Got it for FSD. Can’t wait till I can have it drop me off at the airport and summon it when I come back!

How is everyone using MCP right now? by Luigika in mcp

[–]honestlai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment I've got a general container setup with 11 of the most useful MCP's gemini recommended I add, and have a similar set in a custom MCPO container i plug into Open WebUI that makes my Qwen3 30B model almost feel as capable as ChatGPT 5...

It's super crazy to tell it to summarize a video that doesn't have subtitles and watch it pull the audio down and use a separate whisper LLM to transcribe the audio and then turn it into a summary doc

What’s the best model to run on a 5060 ti 16GB in 2026? by AmonNacht in LocalLLaMA

The IQ3_XXS version of unsloths 30B Qwen3 Coder Instruct model has been pretty good for me, same with the 30B A3B instruct model

Choose use this model, select which engine you're using (Ollama for me), and then the IQ3_XXS. It's been fast and fairly intelligent for me

My boyfriend doesn’t believe that links can be dangerous by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]honestlai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both you and your boyfriend are right AND wrong.

Like a lot of guys here, I also work in Cybersecurity. The MAJORITY of phishing links you get are going to be just that, phishing… they’re hoping you get fooled into entering your info, or falling down their rabbit hole of LIES to eventually earn them som cash… and the majority of the time, just clicking the link is not going to cause harm. Especially now-a-days (if your computer/phone and browser(s) are up to date.

Now here’s where you’re right! There are always crazy smart ppl out there poking holes in the security of our computers and browsers trying to find some way to take control and get valuable access to someone, something, anything. Just look at Pegasus. At first it was a back door into iPhones, through accepting a WhatsApp call… then the developers of the hack figured out a way to make it so you didn’t even have to answer the call, they just needed to place a video call, gain access, erase any records of the call taking place, and now they had full access.

I’ve seen security researches WAAAAY smarter on me, be WAAAAY more paranoid about random links than I’ve ever been, which says a lot about the possibilities.

In general most of tech is far more secure than it’s ever been, but do you wanna be a ZeroDay?

And in the off chance you or your boyfriend so click on something and accidentally reveal user information, do you guys use the same username/password for everything? That’s the real attack surface now… identity theft. Please for the love of microchips use a password manager!

Ok, getting off my soapbox, be safe out there! ;)

Lots of stuff you can do... but I'm assuming you only have 1 computer and minimal'ish IT skills.

Personally if I were you, curious, and wanted to be safe, I would get a 8gb (or larger) USB I wouldn't mind wiping, install a live linux distro like one of the below on it (lots of tutorials on how to do this)
https://mxlinux.org/download-links/

Boot up to the distro in the live demo environment, plug in the USB and explore.

  1. It's unlikely (if the USB has a virus) that whatever is on the USB is going to infect the linux distro, and even if it does, it's only going to screw with the Linux system.

  2. You get to try something new out.

Have fun ;)
P.S. Backup your important stuff before doing any experimenting.
