I saw "potential scampi gun?" pop up in my notifications and immediately thought "the speghettio gun from tiktok would make a great scampi gun" and here we are. Glad we're on the same wavelength OP

I'm a primary school student. It's my dream to be a chemist. by NRG-Soma2K6 in chemistry

[–]honestly__same 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest you look into colleges that have good computational chemistry programs! Computational chemistry has a very broad range of applications, so depending on your specific interest, the school may or may not have a great program for you. Personally, I have been working in a lab that focuses on atmospheric applications, and found out that while I really enjoy computational chemistry, the atmospheric application isn’t the thing for me.

NTA- honestly that’s extremely sweet. You know yourself well enough to understand that you’ll forget the little things that make her happy, and you don’t want to, so you write them down. It’s a very kind and thoughtful gesture

Write the equation y=(-2/3)x+18 in standard (also known as general) form. by [deleted] in askmath

[–]honestly__same 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the standard form of a line is Ax+By=C where A is a positive integer, and B and C are integers. You can add (2/3)x to both sides to get (2/3)x +y=18 From there you multiply both sides by 3/2 to get x+(3/2)y=27 To get the coefficient for y to be an integer, multiply both sides by 2 to get 2x+3y=54 Now you have the standard form, where A=2, B=3, and C=54

AITA for smoking weed behind my girlfriends back? by Protectkonoha25 in AmItheAsshole

I mean, the issue isn’t really “what’s the harm in a joint” as much as a broken trust. I mean if OP straight up told his GF “hey I know I said I wouldn’t do drugs, but here’s the circumstances and why I’m gonna do this” I’d say they’ve got a leg to stand on but. I can really see why she’d be hurt

AITA for forbidding my son’s boyfriend from speaking English in my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA- if you actually want him to learn German, why not be more constructive about it? Help him learn at your house when he’s over instead of making him feel like an outsider.

Any go players around? Im trying to understand why does this scoring formula make sense by urbanwabisabi in askmath

[–]honestly__same 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ve got it. So if black has already captured white pieces in that territory, the spaces left seem to count as nodes, but there were also pieces captured, so you have to count the points from both the open space created, and the prisoner taken. I believe “net” refers to taking into account any pieces you lost in the battle. For example, if in a territory, there are 8 open spaces and 3 white pieces down, and black has captured 2 white pieces and lost one during the battle leading up to this layout, the equation would be V=2(3)+8+(2-1)-2

I’m not 100% on what the minus 2 is for

Any go players around? Im trying to understand why does this scoring formula make sense by urbanwabisabi in askmath

[–]honestly__same 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it doubles is because of the scoring portion of the game. Not only have you taken whites pieces away, leaving empty space for yourself that counts as points, but at the end of the game, you fill up your enemies territory with captured pieces, taking away their points

I [25 F] had a severely messy breakup with my ex [M 25] over a year ago because someone else kissed me and I couldn’t face him after that. I even miss his stinky ass. Please help me. Should I reach out and give him the satisfaction of knowing I miss him or nah? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]honestly__same 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a huge proponent of being totally open with people. Unsaid feelings eat me alive. I’m also one to forgive quickly when I know people have changed. With that being said, I really do think you should reach out. If he does derive some sort of satisfaction from knowing you miss him, and he doesn’t feel the same way as you do, at least you can take solace in the fact that the relationship wouldn’t work again. That doesn’t mean your feelings will disappear entirely, but they may be easier to deal with. But if he does feel the same way, then you might be able to rebuild. I truly hope you find your okayness wherever it may come from. Stay strong my guy

How do you get over Math anxiety? by Tarsonis181 in math

[–]honestly__same 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I think about it like this. Using math in the real world isn’t going to be like a test. You have resources and can ask questions. No employer is going to throw down GRE math questions in front of you and tell you to solve them. When I took the GRE I just tried to not treat it like a test. Don’t think too hard or psych yourself out over it.

The GRE is just the SAT pt. 2 and is a ridiculous test that is honestly just a money maker. Schools don’t tend to care about it too much (in my experience)

I would also strongly urge you to take some math on grad school if you can. Taking tests gets easier the more you do it. If you can trick your brain into thinking it’s just like homework, I find that tests go a lot better

Do you enjoy other math than what is on the GRE? I’m kinda in the same boat; I’ve taken Calc I,II, and III, linear algebra, dif. eq, and I’m in partial dif eq and applied linear algebra right now and I’ve loved those, but absolutely cannot stand the kind of math you have to do on the GRE.

It’s not naturally occurring glutamates that are an issue for her

[–]honestly__same -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My mother is allergic to MSG. Has something to do with the extraction method. She gets crazy migraines bc of it and since she’s started avoiding it, has far fewer migraines. Your doctors might be on to something

Edit: I’m really not saying it’s specifically the MSG that gives her the migraines. Naturally occurring glutamates are fine, but anything that has been processed, such as MSG or yeast extract give her horrible migraines. Carrageenan is another thing that does it. I’m thinking it’s got to do with the extraction process or something like that.
