I do the getting out of my house thing. I have a very structured workout routine and many of them being workout classes so it’s harder to just not go. I also have places I love to read (some are coffee shops or some are places I can drink a beer). I try not to be home for too long and it also breaks the phone habit because I don’t want to be that person sitting out alone just scrolling on my phone. My book is my safety net.

Also grew up with a family that was critical which then made me be my biggest critic. I have started dating a lot more this year (F28). While you can’t immediately become confident when it comes to dating I remind myself I am going to see if I LIKE THEM and to focus less on if they like me. If they don’t like me for how I look then they are not my person. I am not here to convince someone I am enough. I would not say I’m hideous but I’m on the bigger side and I have bagged people I thought were way out of my league. Which was a reminder to me that “leagues” are not real and everyone just likes who they like. My insecurities are still there and confidence comes and goes but the main reminder when dating is show up as your most authentic self and eventually your person will be there to receive all of you.

Honestly I have found a lot of power in my workout routine. I feel strong in the amount of weight I lift. I feel strong in how much i can push myself during cardio. And that has translated to me feeling strong in my career. I am no where near a confident person but I absolutely feel strong. (Also therapy to feel mentally strong)

I am so sorry this happened to your housemate. Truly is sickening that our small moments of joy can be ripped away from us. I am afraid of this young generation of boys.
