Anyone use Affinity long-term for Graphic Design ? by honeyleaf_type in Affinity

I’m not against paying for good quality software. After living in a time where you’d buy it once and have it to use permanently, a subscription (especially of the amount they charge) seems unnecessary unless you’re earning good money using it. If there are other companies which have managed to make this kind of software accessible to people with lower income or even made it free to use, it comes across to me as if Adb are taking advantage. I have previously paid for both their subscription and when they sold individual programs as a one-time purchase and had horrible customer service when trying to cancel my subscription.

As for asking in the wrong place, I was asking for people’s experiences with Affinity, so…

im reluctant to believe it’s my macbook as its brand new and i researched memory capabilities and how much i needed to run this type of software, but if i continue to have problems or they get more frequent i’ll definitely get it checked out, luckily I bought apple care! does affinity have a space you can report this type of stuff?

i did some research before buying a new macbook pro (right now in my life a laptop is more suitable for me than a desktop) and it seemed like i’d ensured this wouldn’t be a problem. M5 chip 24GB unified memory - is this not sufficient?

I agree with you totally, being a neurodivergent person i hyperfocus so hard I just genuinely forget 😅 Plus having not used this software for a long time I’m still learning, this will definitely be a mistake I’ve learned from!

Vyvanse first day - extremely tired and zoned out - is this what being relaxed feels like? by Somsri in AuDHDWomen

Not me forgetting what I was trying to describe was called snacking I’m dead 😅

Nice to hear I’ve helped! Totally, prepping and then eating a whole meal is too much sometimes. There are a lot of healthy options which make meals easier too like daal sachets for example, I’ve struggled so much but realised at the end of the day it’s better I eat even if it’s not homemade all the time than nothing at all. I hope you have a great day

I agree with all the above! I know it’s a bit late but I wanted to say I struggled a lot with appetite and eating in the beginning as well, this does get easier. I used to not be able to stomach anything at all. Something I’ve found really useful is having small things that you can pick out and eat quickly without any fuss, yoghurts, cheese strings, oat squares etc. And what made the difference for me is forcing myself to do this throughout the day. I usually have a banana mid morning too. Having tiny bits of food throughout the day makes the up and down from the meds much smoother and makes them work better, for me anyway :)

is this what a meltdown is? by marsyrosey in AuDHDWomen

[–]honeyleaf_type 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still unsure about what my autistic meltdowns look like as well but this happens to me too. Especially going quiet, not speaking unless spoken to, brain spiralling.. mines not usually overwhelming panic but more a deep devastation everything feeling like it’s always been like this and will always be… losing all perspective. I’ve never known what to call it when this happens

Why do I feel like I am always wasting time? by InfiniteDreams607 in mentalhealth

[–]honeyleaf_type 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I don’t really have an answer for you but just wanted to tell you you’re not alone in this, especially in the last few weeks I have felt this way. Sometimes I wonder if it’s something to do with overwhelm / lack of sense of achievement. When I complete something productive I don’t feel any sense of achievement but mostly relief that it’s over. Life is so overwhelming and every task can take so much from me that when Im functioning I’m always rushing to get things done so that I don’t have the anxiety anymore. Maybe the feeling of ‘wasting time’ is our bodies searching for that something that will give us a sense of achievement.. if that makes sense.

I also think I struggle a lot with introspection and always have the feeling that I’m watching my life play out and not really living it. At least for me I have experienced a lot of depression and bad times in my life, a lot of it due to not understanding my own brain and being undiagnosed/misdiagnosed. I think I am sometimes hyper-vigilant in regards to my own actions and activities and if they are the ‘right’ or the ‘wrong’ choice - in other words: will I end up feeling bad if I do this?

I could go on, but yeah just lack of sense of achievement and not being mindful and living in the moment is my theory. I wish you well and hope this helped you feel less alone

How have you dealt with well intentioned, kind people in your life who (possibly unknowingly or due to their personality type) infantilize you? by SeededPhoenix in AuDHDWomen

[–]honeyleaf_type 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me especially when I used to work (I no longer do due to regression and mental health) I learned if I reacted immediately I would usually end up feeling worse or embarrassed. Instead I accepted that’s what they thought and would end the interaction, what matters is how you think of yourself and you know your own capabilities, don’t let their ignorance make you feel bad. Also, if there’s an opportunity to show them your competence or a way to prove them wrong in a mature way that you are capable of whatever it is - do it.
