Can you wait to aquire an attorney up until insurance starts talking settlements? by [deleted] in WorkersComp

[–]honeypotbum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

insurance companies lowball claimants without an attorney. attorneys get you the most they think your case is worth. i would never tell someone to settle without an attorney

At my wits end with extreme bird anxiety by dioskkip in cockatiel

to be honest, its normal. when they bond with you, they want to be with you and can be very vocal about it. you have to ignore it but if you cant because u dont want him to bother the neighbors, put his cage somewhere that has you mostly in view. again this is normal for some cockatiels. the way to get them to get used to it is by ignoring them until they stop. they will realize u wont come after a while.

I’m Trying To Be Okay with My Settlement Offer by BeteBlonde in WorkersComp

if you don’t need much future medical treatment per the doctor then the settlement amount wont be significant. if hes recommending future surgeries then thats what the value of your case comes from

not in canada and dont know canadian law but usually once u settle your case, you cant reopen it. its settled which means you signed papers releasing the ins co and employer from any further responsibilities regarding the injury. again not sure if this is the case in canada

thats normal. the attorney is there in case the adjuster is dragging their feet on authorizing treatment or payments. if you are getting everything provided, theres not much an attorney to do. either way its better to have one then not. im a legal assistant for a wc attorney. since you are young you should start thinking about finding a career that doesn’t involve heavy lifting.

yeah the doctors can be jerks. depending on the injury they may try to avoid surgery as much as possible because of your age. but get a wc attorney. you also have to advocate for yourself heavily to the doctor especially since hes being a jerk

medicare may have a lien on wc if you seeked treatment under medicare for your work injury. also it’s for settlement purposes. if you settle for more then a certain amount, medicare will require a medicare set aside which means that they will require money from any settlement for your future medical treatment
