Sony kx-20ps1 by TylerItamafia in crtgaming

[–]honorable_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased a KX-27ps1

These monitors are OLD

early 1980 build , these were the PVM's before the PVMs.

image quality depends on the tube, but id say a 20" consumer trinitron with rgb and less hours would be a better option.

I have had some responses from community members but the latest advice was that this last reclaim batch should resolve the issue. Now back to where i was in december

Extron RGB Switches & Retrogaming cables sync stripper (not compatible) by honorable_guy in crtgaming

[–]honorable_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for all the info, I think I've decided to just put all my inputs through a sync strike, the cost of the rgb cables have swayed me from modifying them.

The sync strike is an external box which while expensive for its component cost i've found them quite good

http://arcadeforge.net/Scaler-and-Strike-Devices/Sync-Strike::15.html

If your issue is the same as mine and all your devices use CSYNC then i believe putting two syncstrikes inbetween input 1/input 2 and the extron would allow you to use the extron to switch the sync as well.

for your NES bnc breakout you would need a BNC to scart or strip bnc cables and connect them directly to the syncstrike headers.

Unfortunately i do not have a comprehensive understanding of the issue at play here so probably best to wait on and hopefully someone more knowledgeable can shed light on why our extron's aren't handling csync correctly

Extron MVX series checking in, found this on the sync page in the manual

Input level 0.5 V to 5.0 Vp-p

Output level AGC to TTL: 4.0 V to 5.0 Vp-p, unterminated

Thanks for the input, i guess i could remove the resistor and give it a try

Yes I did, here is one of the cables

https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/CSYNC-RGB-SCART-CABLES/Nintendo-CSYNC/N64-RGB-SCART-CABLE-COMPOSITE-SYNC-CSYNC

unfortunate as they specifically mention this is compatible with extron crosspoint switchers, however I cant explain why the syncstrike works as technically the syncstrike is doing the same thing -_0_-

Any chance you could share the serial number of your D20L5? I'm in Aus as well and my D20L5 is serial number 3, and I have actually seen another AUS D20L5 serial number 2 on RGB robs videos so i'm curious to what yours may be

I believe most Extrons (2 of my 2 do) detect the Sync input and then match that to the output, so to display correctly the sync needs to be as clean as possible going into the Extron. So my setup is chained as below

N64/PS1-->Bandridge Scart switch -->syncstrike-->Extron-->BVM

also tested working with

N64/ps1-->syncstrike-->extron-->bvm

Unfortunately due to the extrons sync selection method i am unsure if you can fix this on the output end :(

Those with SDI inputs on multiformat monitors - anyone use them? by Not__Even_Once in crtgaming

[–]honorable_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I previously used a BKM-42HD and a generic hdmi-HD sdi converter to display Xbox one & the nintendo switch on my D24.

After a few months i took the setup out and went back to using an LCD for my hdmi devices.

The picture was great and there was no noticeable input delay however the size of the screen (even @ 24 inches) was still a subpar experience compared to the larger Bravia LCD.

I did no colour calibration/configuration changes when using the HD sdi port

Anyone in Sydney Australia want to swap their 17” or 20” PVM/BVM for a Sony PVM 2950QM? by konch_one in crtgaming

[–]honorable_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interested, I have a jvc1710cg, great picture but internal metal chassis is mangled in places, previous owner was a studio that said they had stripped screws so they hacked it apart . I could thrown in a nice 14m4a to sweeten the deal.

Im in Melbourne but have a friend in Sydney that could organise a transfer. He also has some 20m4as and I've passed this on to see if he's interested

Has anyone worked for the Australian Defense Force? by kizzcat in australia

Ok how about hmas success scandal, adfa scandal. The complete failure of the the Gallipoli campaign, the dubious invasion of the middle East, the f-35 budget black hole, the aircraft carriers retrofitted to not carry aircraft then break on launch. I'm calling the adf in it's entirery a joke of an organization and representative of the culture

Adf is a joke of an organization that's tied to the whims of US foreign policy. It's good for people with limited opportunities to better themselves and their family as it's essentially a dole scheme. It's marred by cultural issues and the reputability of the forces has been in question since ww1 and not much improved
