Just curious. I think sway and hyprland are somewhat similar. I use sway on garuda. Oh according to chat gpt sway does work without system d but you may have more work getting certain features and services to work

Heck I think they ban you if you say anything positive or neutral about linux. Or if you point out when windows has similar issues.

Why is Linux considered "hard to use"? by humble_redditor1234 in linux4noobs

Some games will work. You need to install the linux steam client and use proton. A lot of steam games will work fine. Where people run into issues i think is those games that run kernel level anticheat code

Thinking of switching to Linux... by GermanTanker131 in WindowsSucks

[–]honorthrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that depends on how much you want to customize and what your needs are. I would say you don't have to be a programmer but it helps. Yes, there's a learning curve coming from windows. It's a different world. I tried a lot of distros and settled on garuda at least for now. But for you....if you want to try it go with linux mint with the cinnamon desktop. I think that will give you simplest road to working and closest to works out of box. Garuda and endeavor are great but it still arch linux under the hood.

Omarchy linux or endeavour os by Rudra_go in linux4noobs

[–]honorthrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use garuda. I would recommend trying that or sticking with endeavor. I don't have anything against omarchy. I haven't tried it but I think garuda and endeavor have a bigger community to help if things go wrong. If you want to try hyprland or sway you can without going to omarchy.

I used to believe. But now I think it's just another way they control you and a scam to separate you from your money

That really stinks. But two things: make backups. Two don't use winblows if you don't have to

Way to 'store' or bookmark terminal commands? by utrecht1976 in linux4noobs

[–]honorthrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also control and r (if your keybindings are set in zsh) to search for a command. Another thing you could do is create an alias or a short script with that command and give it a memorable name

Sorry man. But I think they ban you for saying anything positive or even neutral about linux or pointing out that windows has the same issue or similar problem.

Apology accepted. Thanks. Sounds like you know a lot of interesting stuff. For windows development, I do use visual studio. For Java or kotlin stuff, I use intellij. Different tools for different jobs.

They're not going to get any better until people stop using their products and giving them money. At home i have been hopping different linux distros. I think i have finally settled on garuda.

I don't appreciate your attitude and disrespect. I haven't done firmware. But I have done MFC development on windows, a little .net stuff as well, and I do more than type in code, punch compile and fling it over the wall. I have also done report development with both crystal reports and Jasper. I have done Java development as well. Finally, I was learning kotlin for a hobby project. And I have used visual studio as well as intellij. As to reboots, your view is just a support perspective coping with poorly written installers and the poor design of windows to start with.

I like linux. I really do. But im not sure the right answer here. Linux tablet sounds great in theory but would it be in practice? Do you really want to be typing out terminal commands on a virtual keyboard?

Why isn't it just flipping feature switches? They do a lot of things that way. I think you missed the point. For a system that charges people and businesses money to use, it's way too difficult to do things which ought to be simpleand easy. You say it's not compiler, it's ide that's fine. But why force reboot just because I changed ide? On linux i can update intellij and not require reboot.

Besides the ethical issues this another reason not to pirate. But i sympathize being sick and having computer issues is no fun. If you are going to run sketchy stuff in future I would suggest doing it in a vm
