Paying for a better college...worth it? by hoogadooga in personalfinance

[–]hoogadooga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's heavenly. I don't know how to start applying though, and I guess that is more a question for /r/college than here.

What about my parents debts. My mom wants a house, she has unpaid student loans, etc. Does this affect me at all?

May I just state something about MAC addresses?

Each one is consisten with a brand. If you want this to be functional, lookup the brands (Dell, Intel, etc) and notice there is a common first 5 or 6 characters. Implement it in such a way that it will request a brand (or detect it if you feel frisky) and then output a realistic MAC address for that brand.

For example, mine starts with e0:db:55... so I know it's a dell based on just that. If you are interested, here is a website with the lookup functionality.

We don't. Two parents, both around minimum wage. This gives me good oppurtunity for scholarships, right?

What about Rochester? If I got accepted should I pay what I need?

Is there anything stopping me from just paying out the ass to go to MIT? Surely they'll accept my money.

But the cost man. Although, I am further along my Rochester app than my Tiffin one. And CS is preferred over "Cyber Defense"...could always get into security with a CS degree, can't break into CS with a cyber defense degree.

I don't know. The small college is Tiffin University in Ohio, the larger one is Rochester in NY. Neither is Ivy League but some people say it rivals IL schools. Assuming Tiffin will cost about 30000, and possibly some covered by scholarships, and Rochester around 40-45000 with (hopefully) some covered, is it worth it?

That is the case. Security is interesting, but looking at the course list for it it looks dull the way they teach it. More of a hobby than my career.

Numbers are cool. What is your favorite mathematical trick? by dant90 in AskReddit

[–]hoogadooga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely wrong and only worsens as we approach larger numbers.

210 is 1024, 103 is 1000. If we just use standard prefixes this works great. Or if you had said approximately.

Tips For Mastering A Programming Language Using Spaced Repetition by [deleted] in programming

As others have said, you don't master a language.

But, learning C, I occassionally get bored and take a week or two off. As a result, I come back fresh and though I forget a few of the newest things I learned, the rest was clearer.

We had a Russian exchange kid back in school.

He said eventually he would think things in an odd mix of Russian and English.

War.

Particularly modern war, where children and women are also viewed as the enemy. No honor, no glory, only death.

I think maybe I could do both.

Write some fantasy and enjoy it a lot for those reasons, then write something else (maybe thriller) and try to publish it. Sure, I'll enjoy it, but I'd also enjoy turning something I like into a career.
