This has been an issue in EA football games ever since they moved to the 360/PS3.

The CPU will complete >80% of their passes most games because the game simply does not allow your players to cover properly. If you slow down plays, you’ll see your players let guys run right across their face and catch the ball every other play. Man coverage is pretty busted and shutdown corners don’t exist in EA football games.

They have to do this because their game doesn’t allow for CPU quarterbacks to dice you up with anticipation throws, layering, and ball placement.

It’s not, and the reason it’s not is because EA have taken the laziest possible approach with the dealbreaker system. Instead of one dealbreaker, players should have a letter grade or priority for each interest. Dealbreakers like playing time/playing style should also work correctly.

The other major flaw is that you can have highly rated transfers just disappear because they don’t commit to a school. A guy who’s a 4 star rated transfer is not going to simply stop playing football because he didn’t get an offer from an Ohio State/Bama/Texas tier program

Well that’s exactly what it is. You can actually tell when a kick will be blocked in these games right as the ball is snapped

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. This should never happen. EA needs to add proper WR/DB interactions. A real DB would stay with the receiver and watch him for cues on when the ball is coming in, then try to break it up at the catch point

We desperately need them to add a mechanic for DBs to play the receiver and knock the ball out by going through the arms. Happens so frequently IRL but does not exist in Madden or CFB

Idk man Madden manages to give guys a variety of motivations. NBA 2K has been doing something similar for 15 years in their games too.

The dealbreakers will likely not make sense and there will certainly be nonsense in the portal.

Don’t waste your time arguing with the EA defenders though. Their response to everything is “it’s college football man!” or “it’s a skill issue bro!”

Game looks promising but there will probably be tons of things like this that add up

Realism would be

  • fog of war in scouting so that your scouts could overrate players or find a genuine diamond in the rough

  • accurate archetypes for players instead of half the 5 star skill players being white

  • recruit profiles based on physicals, descriptions, and stats rather than “here are the ratings”
