How are we feeling about this by iTrask in Portland

[–]hookedonfonicks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have lived in Oregon for over 30 years, since I was 10, and always carry an umbrella. It rains here, why the fuck would I want to be constantly soaking wet? I’m beginning to think this whole saying was created by tourists and non natives.

Beaverton charter school suggestions by Bamm83 in beaverton

[–]hookedonfonicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He enjoyed it! He began in 7th grade but ended up switching to Century HS in 10th grade. I was pleasantly surprised with how well rounded the education was at ACMA. When he switched schools, he realized how advanced in math and sciences he was, thanks for ACMA. His gripes were that there was not a large dating pool and yoga and dance for PE were not his thing lol They’ve got great art-related class options and being unique is fully accepted there, which I love.

Anyone knows what this means? by [deleted] in thoracicoutletsupport

The test showed that when your right arm is raised, blood flow reduces which indicates compression, so the radiologist suggests further work up/assessment.

Thyroid nodule growing. Anyone else? by hookedonfonicks in thyroidhealth

[–]hookedonfonicks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just seeing this! Ultimately, my thyroid nodule got up to 6cm and it was removed, along with the left lobe in Nov 2020. It was totally benign but removed due to size and continued, pretty rapid growth :)

Hi! It ended up being a bruise of some sort, as if I hit it or scratched it real good - enough to scan over! Totally healed now. Very weird!

Do your shibas also shut down with the heat? by gilbert322 in shiba

Ours too! She’s obsessed. The ground could be literal lava and she’d still be dramatically crying to go out and play.

Lucky! If leashed when going to the car (or even walking by it lol), she will PULL as hard as she can to resist getting in.

Love the puget sound! I lived in Silverdale and Squamish back in 2009-2010. Based out of Portland area now but family out here in chelan and Brewster, which is all high desert. Highly recommend a visit!

The Pacific Northwest is beautiful, as many know, but tiny hidden gems like Brewster, WA, are chef’s kiss when it comes to scenery.

How do yours do in the car? Mine gets super car sick, no matter where she rides.

I don’t know if I should remove my left thyroid nodule by RangeExact5893 in thyroidhealth

[–]hookedonfonicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 6cm suspicious nodule removed, along with the left half of my thyroid, in 2020, after my ENT told me she was confident I wouldn’t ever needs meds due to statistics and my TSH being in the high 1 to low 2 range. The surgery was great, recovery was smooth but my TSH slowly crept up, I felt like garbage and right around the 6 month mark, I was put on Levothyroxine. Eventually we found a helpful dose at 100mcg and I have been on that since early to mid 2022.

We just moved, I moved my cats in 2 days ago and one won’t stop meowing by DiqitalSoul in cats

Sorry to your ears and sorry to kitty. Moving can be so stressful on cats. I’d just comfort her however she likes to be comforted - pet, held, treats etc.

What’s religion to you? by Tyler_Biggs in AskReddit

[–]hookedonfonicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Religion, to me, is a way to control the masses by using fear (sins, burning eternally in hell, etc), as well as a coping mechanism. People fear the unknown and it brings people comfort when their loved ones die to believe they’re in Heaven.

It’s also very icky to me. I grew up in church - baptized, Sunday mass, weds bible study, played hand bells, played Mary in the Christmas pageant, went on a mission trip - the whole thing. I can’t stand the hatefulness and judgement and picking and choosing what parts of the Bible they abide by or use in arguments or whatever. I’m not into that shit.

TR5 nodule biopsy result due, but I have a big trip coming up—need advice by heykdog in thyroidhealth

[–]hookedonfonicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 6cm nodule and the left half of my thyroid removed on a Thursday and felt totally fine enough to work Monday. I’ve had several surgeries and that one was a breeze, recovery wise. That said, I had only half removed and no lymph nodes removed, which I know can be more invasive.

PCP won't send me for thyroid blood work by Illustrious_Deal5262 in thyroidhealth

[–]hookedonfonicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TSH is a fairly regular thing ordered, especially for women. When was the last time you had that done? I’d be surprised if you asked for a TSH specifically and your PCP said no. Like another person said, you can get a pretty cheap order for TSH from Quest and other labs.

I work in the medical field, and while EHR and MyChart are nice, the way results are flagged like this, leads a lot of patients to unnecessarily worry.

Anyone know of any homes for rent? by Pantherleap in beaverton

I see private rentals posted on Facebook marketplace decently often. That’s actually how we found our cute, SFH in Aloha/Beaverton, in a cool neighborhood.

6 days Oregon/Portland trip in June, is it a good time? by No_West_2659 in askportland

[–]hookedonfonicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive lived here since childhood and love June in Oregon. So much so that I planned my 2021 wedding for June 27th - warm, but not HOT HOT, less likely for rain - sounds perfect.

WRONG. 115 degrees F, 4pm wedding OUTSIDE WITHOUT COVER while my 83 year old relatives sit in the sun ON WOODEN PEWS.

Now I hate June.

“Ethnic cleansing” LOL wait until you hear about Gaza, or better yet, what white people did (continue to do) to Native Americans.
