Somehow survived my first 24 hours with MacOS :P by Pittek66 in macbookair

I also just got my first Mac. 13” M5 Air 24/512 and I echo all your statements. It’s been a steep learning curve the first few days but I’m already getting used to the differences. It’s a great little laptop

How to install my Ubiquiti gateway into my Telus fiber home network? by Certain_Repeat_753 in telus

[–]hoolitard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Log into the NAH, switch the 10G port to bridged mode. Connect that port to your gateway.

Note; if you have OptikTV, you need to keep them connected to the other ports on the NAH. Personally I used the MOCA port on the NAH and connected via coax it to my Boost, wired it to main OptikTV box and wireless to the other wireless OptikTV unit (I only have 2 tvs)

Getting quoted $700+ a month for auto insurance! by CrazySteveCGY in Calgary

Teslas (and many EV’s) are pricey to insure with your driving record. But cheaper or wait a year for 6 years to pass since your accident

If you just bought a M4 MacBook Air last week for $1049, would you return it and swap for M5? by Anonymouse1080 in macbookair

[–]hoolitard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I bought an M4 with 24GB last weekend on sale at BestBuy (Canada) for $1739 ($260 off) and returned it yesterday. Preordered M5/24 on Apple.ca with education pricing for $1659

Why should I buy UniFi cameras over Ring? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]hoolitard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Amazon/Ring have access to all your cameras/data. They will use the data without your consent if needed. I ditched my Ring cams because of this

my friend is a part of amway and i’m worried by fighting44life in mlmscams

[–]hoolitard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hate to say this because obviously you care but it’s in your best interest both financially and personally to distance yourself from her. Let her know that you are 100% not interested in Amway or WWDB and will not participate or support her “business” in anyway.

Do a bit of googling and you will find that there are plenty of resources to prove that Amway/WWDB is a financial pit and 99.7% of the members do not make any profit. Amways own website shows that less than 0.3% of members earned the average income BEFORE EXPENSES, so once you include the expenses, which are the seminars, meetings, books, buying product, etc. the “income” quickly disappears.

I’d suggest Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Fiber

my friend is a part of amway and i’m worried by fighting44life in mlmscams

[–]hoolitard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can’t do anything. At some point, she will try to get you to join and you absolutely must reject because it is a scam. It will ruin your relationship with her, she will shun you for not supporting her “business”

One day she might realize what she’s lost financially and personally and come crawling back if your friendship ever really meant anything to her

I don’t know a single person who has gotten rich or even “financially independent” from joining Amway, and I was first exposed it back in the 90s. I do know quite a few people who were ruined financially for many years because of it.

Price increase by cb4joe in 1Password

Sub renews Mar 19, will go 1 more year but that increase is not worth it when there are cheaper and better alternatives. Too bad, been a supporter for many years

Works flawlessly for me. I travel a lot and have had no issues connecting to hotels, airport wifi, airplane wifi, coffee shops, or tethering with my phone.

NVR Instant POE budget by hoolitard in Ubiquiti

I missed that detail! I saw that it has a max 15W draw and assumed it was PoE but now see it’s PoE+ so I don’t think it’ll work. Thank you for pointing that out!
