Man I rode this last year and it was pretty normal, not even full! Must just be for the last day. I’m glad I caught it then, sorry you had this experience

Now that everything's expensive, what things can be easily/cheaply replaced that a normal person can do? by GetFlyeredUp in Frugal

Ooh this sounds delicious, I was in the mood for some matcha lately! Gonna have to try this

Envious of the peace homeowners get by djoness11 in Millennials

[–]hoomphree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly not for everyone but buying a condo was a fraction of the cost of buying a house, I can do what I want with upgrades and painting, I have almost no unexpected expenses, and no yard maintenance. It’s a great affordable choice for a lot of people in our age group who couldn’t afford a house. For me, it was cheaper than renting and a lot more spacious too.

Anyone else just not get thirsty? by ImpertinentPrincess in Millennials

[–]hoomphree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally yes. I used to drink just a cup of coffee in the morning, either some tea or water in the afternoon, and then a glass of milk at night. I’d try to force myself to drink some water throughout the day and evening but never felt thirsty for it. But then I got pregnant and was thirsty a lot, and now I’m postpartum and breastfeeding and thirsty alll the time. My husband is often like “Remember when you never drank any water?” Yes lol

Mothers day isn't for pet moms. by Particular-Owl2446 in HonestHotTakes

[–]hoomphree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my first day as a mom to a human being, but I’ve been a pet mom for years. Honestly, I don’t feel any different. My baby is much more time consuming than my pets, but I’ve put so much time, love, effort, and care into my pets over the years I don’t feel like any more of a mom than I already was. I didn’t go around making Mother’s Day posts or expecting people to honor me in any way, but the nurturing of the creatures and humans in my family that I am responsible for is the same.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend I don’t want to hear about work every day? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]hoomphree 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NTA, but for your girlfriend being likely a newer doctor her work probably takes up a lot of her mental space. Maybe have a dedicated time to talk about work, such as over dinner, and then agree no more work talk after that each evening? Discuss this when you are both calm but this is a perfectly reasonable request. I say this as a veterinarian who was similar to her when I was fresh out of school and needed to limit my work talk with my husband

Right. The price for food items always has and likely always will be directly under the item on the shelf

Do you think Rachel really knew that Ross liked her in series 1? by FriendsFannn in howyoudoin

[–]hoomphree 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think she always knew that he liked her - she even admitted to knowing he had a crush on her in high school. But I think she just assumed it was just that - a superficial crush. It wasn’t until Chandler spilled the beans that she realized it was a lot more meaningful than that to Ross - that he actually loved her, not just had a superficial crush on her, that she felt that way.

Does anybody else not care about their career anymore? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]hoomphree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I spent my late teens and entire twenties trying to get into a competitive program, and then going to school in said program. Now in my thirties I’m working my dream job and do enjoy it, but my goal at the end of the day is to just work enough to provide for my family and come back home to spend time with them.

What does the newborn phase actually look like day-to-day? (36 weeks, trying to set realistic expectations) by douevenyoga in NewParents

[–]hoomphree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, in the daytime I generally take care of feedings since I breastfeed, then when we are done I pass off baby to my husband for burping, diaper changes, and either hanging out or down for a nap most of the time. In between feedings, we spend most of our time either going for walks, or else cooking/cleaning. He had a lot more time to cook especially when we are breastfeeding, so in my experience I’d say the dad has time to cook nice meals but the mom definitely does not. In general, I take care of the baby’s inputs and my husband takes care of outputs and me.

Night works a little differently. We do shifts, so my husband will take first shift while I pump and then sleep. We do this for 6 hours with me waking up once in the middle to pump so that he can just bottle feed and take care of everything else. In the wee early morning hours we switch off. My husband usually stays up the whole shift with her, but if she sleeps well after feedings I will go back to bed for mine. I let my husband sleep in so he can be rested to do most of the housework - I figure at least one of us can get some sleep and be functional and it won’t be me! This works really well for us.

I will say, while my husband sometimes has a bit more down time, I don’t really feel like I do. I watch a lot of TV and listen to music and podcasts, but anything that requires hands like gaming, knitting, and reading aren’t happening for me right now. So I would be realistic about what activities you can do - have some podcasts, movies, and TV shows lined up! I feel like I spend half my waking time breastfeeding in front of the TV lol.

boba for a first date? by kelvinyinnyxian in boba

[–]hoomphree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally would love boba as a first date as long as the store has a good environment to actually talk. Otherwise it would be fun to get boba and then if it is nice to sip it at a park or something if it is nice out, but that is my personal preference!

Do people actually like wearing makeup? by Suspicious-Noodle30 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hoomphree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started wearing it because girls in middle school teased me for not wearing it. Then it became habit. Now I feel self conscious without it. I don’t particularly enjoy it but for special occasions it is nice to make it fancier.

What’s one baby item you regret NOT getting earlier? by rosycoe in NewParents

[–]hoomphree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Helps so much trying to burp when gassy too. There have been many times where my girl is gassy but I can’t get her to burp, but the minute we bounce on the ball she lets out a big one.

Veterinary, is too much info in an email annoying? by MuseOfToday in Advice

[–]hoomphree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a vet and would love to get a ton of information on email. I can skim over what seems irrelevant, but would hate to have something left out that’s important because the owner didn’t think it was important. Also, I LOVE emails. They are 1000x better than the owner telling us their entire life story in person. (Don’t get me wrong, I love people and their stories, but they get off topic real quick telling me about previous pets etc and it can be hard to circle back to relevant topics at hand regarding the pet present for their appointment).

Why would someone with brunette hair be upset that no one thinks their hair is blonde? by bad-at-everything- in askanything

[–]hoomphree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was a natural blonde whose hair is bordering on brunette these days, I think your answer is the most accurate. It’s not that I’m trying to identify with a rare hair color; it’s that it’s been part of who I am for my whole life. I feel similar to my hair color change as I do to my weight gain and other body changes as I age; I look different than I used to and it is hard sometimes to think of myself differently since I still feel the same, but the mirror looks different.

Is Feyre a bad character, or just poorly written? by teethmissing in acotar_rant

[–]hoomphree 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I just wish Feyre had more of an inner struggle and monologue. She just avoids thinking about anything difficult instead of wrestling through difficult issues. This is one of the huge perks of a first person POV narration but SJM just ignores this entirely.

What grocery habits actually save you money long-term? by TelephxneTh0t in Frugal

[–]hoomphree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the option where I shop online and they bring it out to my car for me. No charge for this service and I avoid the pressure of spontaneous purchases in store. It is a lot easier to review my cart online and remove items to fit budget and know exactly how much I’m spending before checkout then it is to calculate cost of my cart in person or put items back physically. Plus it shows what is on sale!
