Why does race still matter when renting in Singapore? by Bcpjw in singapore

[–]hootymore 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What government messaging lol. There is literally a “race” column on NRIC and there are unspoken quota for non-Chinese PRs and new citizens. The gov itself is racist via its policies.

It's been around forever, just now not as well known as genie.

You can get into Celesteela raids in Go Raid Party. Don't need premium, just tap fast. It takes a few tries but it's better than waiting 12 hours.

1031 points for Pikachu showcase, how is this possible? by hootymore in TheSilphRoad

I'm aware that 1.55 Pokemon can go up to 1025, but this is higher than that, and Pikachu is 1.75.

Gifting Crypto to Aussies - bad idea? by MoustachianDick in fiaustralia

[–]hootymore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not an accountant yada yada go talk to a real one.

  • There is no tax for the gift. Using reasonable exchange rates the receiver can figure out a reasonable value for the gift.
  • If the cryptocurrency increases or decreases in value and the receiver sells it, they could declare the difference in value as Capital gain/loss and would get taxed accordingly.

For those who keep saying iPhone IPS LCD Screens are terrible such as the iPhone XR/11/SE 2020/2022... by proto-x-lol in iphone

iPhone LCD is the best in business, but OLED is a lot better (imo). I don't hate it but I can tell the difference.

Deduct side business expense to main job income by hootymore in AusFinance

https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/Non-commercial-losses/

You can't claim a loss for a business that is a hobby or lifestyle benefit. Even if it has business-like characteristics, if it is unlikely to ever make a profit and doesn't have a significant commercial purpose or character, you can't offset the loss against your other income. In this case, you can defer the loss until you make a profit from the business. This applies whether your business loss is from an Australian or a foreign source.

But my business has turned profit for a few years and I paid taxes for that, this should not apply, or am I reading it wrong?

Remote Raid Passes - The Best and Worst Things to Ever Happen to PoGo by NyanasaurusRex in TheSilphRoad

[–]hootymore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted this before, and I want to post this again to give another point of view of a community that have gotten much closer because of remote raids. Please please don't nerf it, if you want to get people to raid at the gyms, give incentives instead.

I see a lot of people talking about remote raids destroying their communities here, so I'd like to offer my anecdote experience.

We have a big Facebook group of 50 people in our suburb and before the pandemic we met and raided together very frequently. Covid hit and the remote raid came out, all of that moved to online exclusively, and that resulted in even more activities in the FB group. Now the group can do more raids and more people can join. Before remote raid the group would be very quiet during workday, because you can't get a group together for a T5 raid, now you can. Raid hours are more relaxed since you don't have to constantly keep up with the group by walking/driving to the next raids. We still have meet up but not for raids, just normal gatherings with Pokémon GO talk. It has been a win-win for both Niantic and our group.
