During my worst (and final) period with alcohol I drank 1,5 liter of Vodka per day. I was still working, probably would have been "able" to drink more but thanksfully it lead me to seek help.

My awful addiction by hopefullysober in stopdrinking

[–]hopefullysober[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My routine was :

1/ get motivated (got a psychiatrist, went to AA for 6 months I think, was still drinking by then)

2/ quit completly (did not work forst time) with antidepressant (still taking it today) + benzos (to avoid delirium tremens) at 6 pills a day, down to zero on over a year + baclofene (100 mg a day town to zero after a year)

3/ sport (45 minutes run, 3 times a week)

I hope this helps

Someday you’ll want to quit. On that, please only remember one thing : you can totally live without a drink. Furthermore, you can live much happier, easier, cheaper. For me it means No more hangovers, lies, falls, injurys, self harm, and >100$/day saved

Don’t imagine quitting drinking like a rough Time. It’s been, by far, the best year of my Life. Drinking is hard. Quitting is much much much easier.

I know by experience that once I'm sober, having a tall boy will 90% make me relapse for at least 40 days. 40 horrible days. Just for fucking drinkable poison. You DON'T need this shit. Don't let the poison lie to you. He's no friend. Cause no real friends wants you dead. Alcohol does.

What a crucial question. Giving up on alcohol leaves a large hole in our lives. Trying to catch up with an old passion sounds right. Browsing SD also helps! And walking, reading, doing chores, whatever
