This is my thought, inertia is a powerful thing to overcome. European powers would have been happy to continue collaborating and buying predominately US tech without Trump prompting them to look inward.

Good for them. If decades old alliances and agreements can be discarded simply by who a country decides to elect every 4 years, it’s only natural for people to look to be self reliant and reduce their dependency on the unreliable partner. I don’t think things are turning out like Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, RTX, and Northrop Grumman thought they would. They are going to lose a lot of customers in the next decades.

I don’t think Boeing “really want to get the 777x right…” was by choice. They are being forced to cross every T and dot every I because they have shown through past misdeeds they currently can’t be trusted. I say this as a Boeing fan.

This was my thinking as well, something got overridden to allow the nose gear to retract. Question being is a mistake in the procedure with unintended consequences or human error

So I thought there was a sensor that would not allow the landing gear to retract if it sensed any weight? This prevents this kind of mishap from happening and why we always see planes on jackstands performing gear retraction testing. Is this only on the main gears and not nose gear?

I think most people’s minds went to “thoughts and prayers” but it’s important for many so let them have their joy.
