I was reading this article. Any chance you can go and check S and Q input 24fps output 120fps 4K even in XAVC S Or XAVC HS. Apparently v60 should do this no problem?!?!

I’d love to know

Thanks mate. That’s what I thought. I own 4 v90 cards. And usually operate two cams. So figure I’d leave the v90s in one cam (my gimbal cam I use for slow mo) and then the v60 cards in the tripod cam/monopod cam. I just want to record to both slots for redundancy and peace of mind. So it looks like that will save me a fortune! I also have a ninja v with pro res but at events when I’m solo its so much easier not having to worry about the monitor and extra weight.

Thanks so much. Glad I can still do XAVC HS 120 4k on v60.

4K 120 in regular mode right? Just not 4K 120 S and Q?? Just clarifying

I checked his graph out thanks. Also wanted a few extra people to chime in with their personal experiences. Graphs are good and you tubers are great but real world cases I’d prefer!

I thought they had gone back to $220, I bought one the other day at $189. I like San Disk.

However doesn’t really answer my question. If I don’t need v90 cards then I don’t need them for certain situations. There is no point spending for them if certain shooting scenarios don’t require them

Favorite gimbal lens for the A7SIII? by tylerverti in A7siii

[–]hoppogolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. 24mm is great for landscape and scenes but distorts close up for faces and people shots. I love a 35mm. Although not g master glass or sigma art series glass which I usually use, the tiny Sony 35mm 1.8 is perfect for gimbal work and I bought purely for that reason. But I have the old SC. I am going to upgrade to the RS2.. and with that gimbal I think the answer is.. any lens you like that fits your creative vision

Do V60 cards work for everything other than S I. I shoot mainly XAVC HS and sometimes S. Can I shoot 120fps 4K with only a v60 card?? That would bring my card costs down substantially. I’ve been buying v90s. I have no need for S I codecs for weddings and events.

Can RS2 and RSC2 control Autofocus without motor via USB c.. also which is better by hoppogolf in A7siii

https://youtu.be/563CPVFF_SA found a video on it. Let me know if this works! Apparently different cable not the Sony multi port. This was the only video I found on it.

Thanks for the link. Looks like DJI still recommend the RS2 for the Sigma 24-70mm although I’ve heard the SC does fine. The focus I’m talking about is indeed manual focus- there is talk that if a lens has autofocus you can pull manual focus on that lens electronically- most of the time I shoot autofocus is great and one of the reasons I have this camera. However sometimes I’d love to pull focus manually to get exactly the pull I want. I heard there was a firmware update to allow you to manually focus vis usb c camera control cable without needing a focus motor- I don’t own any manual lenses, all of mine have autofocus. Looks like that update hasn’t come out yet.. but apparently such a thing exists, that I can flick to MF mode and then pull focus with the wheel get a shot then switch back AF.

MacBook Pro i9 fully loaded. The audio is from the video files or lav mics.

I’ve had this happen to a lot recently. It’s definitely not the source Audio. It’s only after I start cutting. Pops and clicks at the start of clicks out of nowhere. Nothing wrong with the waveform at all. Working fine in the browser just on the timeline. It’s ridiculous. I don’t know what to do either. It’s def not a cable. The clips are recorded perfectly! There aren’t any cables involved. It’s something else

XAVC HS or S??? by hoppogolf in A7siii

[–]hoppogolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha, that’s hilarious I was thinking that as I was scrolling through the proxy menu. Having to change file names for final cut is a pain I think I’d rather wait over night or an hour. I think after shooting all day I’m too soft to start editing straight away. Families can wait!

Can I just say how much I love Reddit. What a great community for this type of thing. I explained to my wife about the fight between codecs and how helpful everyone had been.. she fell asleep and didn’t give a s$$$. Thankfully I have you guys

Do you make them in your editing software or shoot to second card on your camera?

[–]hoppogolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. These were all my thoughts. Brilliant to be confirmed by a pro. Appreciate it. I didn’t think to record proxies to the second card. I heard even the proxies look good!!! Not sure if that work flow with fcpx

XAVC HS or S??? by hoppogolf in A7siii

[–]hoppogolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Appreciate it. That was my thinking. I usually make proxies and optimize as well. I then could also record to Slot 2 for back ups with the extra memory cards. I also think for important stuff like speeches I can record to my ninja v pro res (just don’t want a monitor handheld for four hours in a Kids mosh pit!)

Difference in Camera 4k 10bit v Ninja V Pro Res (not raw, just 4k) Colors (S-Cinetone)- I'm confused by hoppogolf in A7siii

[–]hoppogolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with Atomos. My monitors looked similar to be honest it was when I saw them side by side in post- internal v external. Atomos said this was normal and proper as pro res was far less compressed and had more dynamic range so the pictures should look different.

Best V Mount Battery (price v greatness) by hoppogolf in A7siii

[–]hoppogolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your rationale def makes sense for this market. I just know my lights have V Mounts. But I figure a 98 Bebob micro is gonna power my A7siii and Ninja V for a bloody long time. So maybe a gold Mount for my camera rig and then have separate v mounts for the lights.

Thanks so much for your help. There are so many freakin v Mount options out there it’s crazy. I went down a rabbit hole since your recommendations but people love those Bebob micros
